投稿日時: 5年前EDIT6: Great, thanks.
EDIT5: Hi, glad to notice you that newest version of v2.6.1 has fixed your problem. Now it'll auto remove the ending of some punctuation signs. And no need to worry about the dict window out of the screen now, it'll be auto detected and fixed. Have a try?
Also, let's keep these conversion here. I think it's fun to let's everyone know how things could be interesting.
EDIT4: Today I got a windows pc, finally I find the should-be reason!! Somehow you might accidentally move the dict window outside of screen. Yes on windows you can do this, then it will remain just at the edge of the screen even when you reopen it. Or you might used dual screen then removed one? So that the dict window might remain outside of the current screen. A feature of this app is to remember the coordinate of the last position you know. How to fix this? Now comes the trick: Right click on the small preview window of the dict, there is a "move" item in the context. Select the Move option. Begin pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the invisible window from off-screen to on-screen. It's like magic, could you have a try? Tell me as soon as you tried, thank you.
EDIT3: OK, I create this issue on github: https://github.com/pnlpal/dictionaries/issues/35, just a reminder for me. I am going to look into it later. BTW your method of reading with auto-scrolling is amazing, can't believe somebody really use it that way. I will try to make it better. Thank you.
-------
Thank you for the feedback. This is interesting. One reason might be somehow the width or height of the dict is stored as 0, which normally should be impossible, but if that happens, the window disappeared. I fixed this by checking the value on initialization. Try again with v2.5.1?
---- update
Appeared then disappeared? weird. it seems not caused by this app, may be the other extensions? Have you tried to disable the others? Also this is not a good place to trace the problem. Could I contact you on Telegram or Discord? The links are in the description.
---- update2
What do you mean "some signs after the words causes them not to be recognized"? I don't get it. Which dictionary are you using? Do you have twitter or github account? A github issue is the best. Otherwise twitter is ok, right? Need your help, thx.

Edit 1: idk how to reply to replies, so I'm replying as an edit—Some people like the popups on text select, which is fine. As long as I can toggle it off, I'm happy. My personal reason is that I select text as I read, it's a weird habit, but I have heard of other people doing this too. Having a popup appear is too distracting when I'm reading. Which is why I really like that you can configure this extension to only show popups when using a key like Ctrl or Shift.開発者の返信
投稿日時: 1ヶ月前Edit 2: Hi, I listened to your advice, in the new v6.4.1 I added the option to show the selection bubble only when a modifier key (ie. Ctrl, Shift or Alt) is pressed. PS, go to settings you will find the option. And you can press the key either in selection or after.
If you like it, can I earn back the missing star? :D

Edit 1: Thank you again for the feedback. I see, that's good to know. It's really interesting to see different people have different preference and habit. I will add that configuration you suggested.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry for the popup parade. I’ve been working like a machine these past few days to add features I was really really excited about, and I thought others would feel the same. Sorry you’ve had to turn them off one by one. If you can, give them a try and let me know what you like or hate about. If you prefer turning them off, please tell me why. I’ll owe you a big favor... And I promise I will take a break for the next few weeks, so no new features will be popping up. 開発者の返信
投稿日時: 3ヶ月前Thank you for the feedback! I confirmed it was a bug introduced in the last version. It happened when a word contained accent or diacritic marks (like in Thai), which caused the validation to fail. I fixed it as soon as I found the issue and added a unit test to ensure it won’t happen again. The fix is included in v6.1.0. Hope it works well for you now! Can I earn that 5-star rating?- 5 段階中 4 の評価Firefox ユーザー 18591186 によるレビュー (5ヶ月前)

This one fills the void I had from Safari's right click word look up function, but far more featured and customizable, if you so desire. Thanks River! I hope Mozilla starts actively monitoring so trustworthy security vouching brings you a greater audience

- I really like the simplicity of this app. It just works exactly as it says. There does seem to be a bug with the setting to disable the Captions YouTube link. Every time I disable it and it comes right back the next time I restart Firefox. It's not a big deal but it is annoying.

投稿日時: 1年前It should work correctly. Could you try to remove some of the word history then save the settings again? It could be that the storage of the addon has been used up so that the settings are not persisted. 開発者の返信
投稿日時: 1年前Edit: Thanks Pal. I am gonna look into the speed issue in the next version.
Thank you. is it why you give a 4 stars?- - |||| Hey, I can't rate the words anymore after this new update and It's been a while, but before when I opened the pop-up, the search bar would be selected automatically. It was really convenient. I would really appreciate it if you could fix all this.
Edit: I can rate the words again, thank you. The issue with the search bar didn't change, but ok. And It's a little bit laggy now when I search a word trough my history. It may be my PC idk.
Edit: The add-on is not laggy, It is the website I was using 💀
Edit: It's all working now. This ESC function is gonna be pretty handy. Thanks.

Edit: Hello, some more feedback here. The window size keep resizing and getting smaller every time I open the pop-up. Could you make it stay always in the same size?開発者の返信
投稿日時: 1年前[Edit]: Oops. Thanks again. Autofocus on the search input comes back on v5.1.2 :)
Btw, pressing the ESC key can also put you focus on the input.

Thank you for the feedback. It's been fixed with v5.1.1 :) - EDIT: It works the same as before! i 100% reccomend just like before, this extension is one of the best extensions you can download on your firefox browser, especially if you arent a foreign speaker of english (or other languages this addon provides)
original comment: i absolutely love this add-on, i created an account to rate it.. however there was a tiny issue with it, it stopped working quite recently- im not sure why but it was great until now, 5/5 would reccomend!開発者の返信

Turns out there are many more issues with Manifest V3 on Firefox, so I rolled back to manifest v2 after V5.1.0. I believe the newest version works perfectly on any firefox version now. Check it out.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it. However, what is the function that stopped working? It sounds very serious. I am very actively developing and testing it now. It seems all working for me. Can you give me more clue? Please create an issue on github or at our community website pnlpal.dev so that we can communicate further on the issues. - The best and most comprehensive dictionary extension I've ever used by far. Sometimes however the 'mouse-over-a-word-for-a-definitions-popup' function, will stop working and I need to restart my browser to fix it. Otherwise I love this extension. I am using a non-standard browser (LibreWolf, a fork of Firefox), so this could conceivably be the issue since I haven't tested if it happens in other browsers.
