Privacy Policy for XenonTranslate

1. Introduction
   XenonTranslate ("the Extension") is a free, open-source translation extension for Mozilla Firefox, developed by Xenon Community. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user. By installing and using XenonTranslate, you agree to the terms described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
   XenonTranslate does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information. The Extension does not have its own servers and does not send any data to Xenon Community.
   The only data processed by the Extension is:

Text you submit for translation — entered manually in the sidebar or selected on a webpage. This text is sent directly to Google Translate's public API for the sole purpose of returning a translation. It is not logged or stored by the Extension.
Your language preferences — the default source and target languages you select in the Extension settings. These are stored locally on your device using Firefox's built-in browser.storage.local API and never leave your device.

1. Third-Party Services
   XenonTranslate uses Google Translate's public endpoint to perform translations. When you translate text, that text is transmitted to Google's servers. This transmission is subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
   Optionally, if you provide a Yandex Translate API key in the Extension settings, translations may be processed by Yandex. In that case, Yandex's Privacy Policy applies: https://yandex.com/legal/privacy
   Xenon Community has no control over how these third-party services handle the data they receive.
2. Data Storage
   The Extension stores the following data locally on your device:

Your selected default target language
Your Yandex API key, if provided (stored locally, never transmitted to Xenon Community)

This data can be cleared at any time by removing the Extension from Firefox.

1. Permissions
   XenonTranslate requests the following Firefox permissions:

activeTab — to read selected text on the current page for translation via the right-click context menu
contextMenus — to add a "Translate Selection" option to the right-click menu
storage — to save your language preferences locally
<all_urls> — to inject the translation tooltip on any webpage when you use the context menu

No permission is used for tracking, advertising, or any purpose beyond translation functionality.

1. Children's Privacy
   XenonTranslate does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The Extension does not target or appeal to children.
2. Changes to This Policy
   Xenon Community reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
