It can boost volume without distortion for the audios recorded in low volume.
But if the audio is louder, pulgin compresses the audio. There seems an internal knee, set to an absolute db for 100%. Actually it works like a compressor with high ratio.
Which I am ok with that. But it would be better if there is a bypass switch.
