It doesn't just give you fish, it teaches you how to fish, i.e. the formatting is not just applied, so that you would always have to use the buttons at the top, instead it adds the Markdown symbols and if you remember them, you can just go ahead and write them yourself, omitting moving your hands too much, slowing you down. When you're uncertain about the Markdown symbols, you can still use the buttons. It's just very good this way! And then there's a preview function to make sure you didn't mess it up. It's WYSIWYM and WYSIWYG in one!
