My only gripe is that the name and "discard" terminology is misleading; I'd have tried it way sooner if not for that.
A must-have extension for anyone who opens a bazillion tabs all at once, and probably even for people who only open a few (since it doesn't take all that many before Firefox begins to slow, even with fast PC).
I don't know why Firefox doesn't handle unloading tabs even half this well natively, but it really doesn't. Firefox runs so much better with this installed.
I appreciate the detailed options very much, as well. You can customize it to your liking. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Cleanminds, 24 days ago

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Lilith D. Bracken, 2 months agoThis extension is awesome for keeping my browser fast and my laptop battery lasting longer. It automatically puts inactive tabs to sleep, freeing up memory and reducing CPU use without closing anything. When I switch back, the tab just reloads right where I left off. It’s super lightweight, easy to use, and works quietly in the background. Perfect for people who keep lots of tabs open but don’t want their computer to slow down. Simple, effective, and really useful.

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur thajose, 3 months agoBeen a Firefox user since it was an alpha release. I've never written a review for any extension until now. This extension made Firefox on Ubuntu usable for me again. I typically have several tabs opened at all time. After 12 or so, Firefox would become nearly unusable, particularly if any videos began playing in those tabs. Auto Tab Discard has made it to where I can have several dozen tabs open and everything runs fine. To the developer, thank you so much for this.
One thing I will point out is that the name is a bit misleading - No tabs appear to be discarded, thrown away, or deleted. They are just put in a suspended state and removed from active memory. At one time, I thought Firefox had a feature like this built in however, if that still exists, it no longer works very well. Auto Tab Discard is an absolute must for me now. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Michael Rabinovsky, 3 months agoI think the description says it all, but I'll add that the benefits of this addon are immense, and it is amazing to me that it isn't built into the browser. This addon turned my old laptop from unusable to nice to browse on. In addition, as a heavy tabber with hundreds of tabs open, it allows me to run more memory-intensive software on my desktop without closing my browser.

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 17564609, 4 months agoIt appears that the AI-powered tab grouping of Firefox keeps this extension from being effective.
You need to turn off 'Use AI to suggest tabs and a name for tab groups' in Settings > General.
The extension discards tabs more than Tab Unloading, a function of Firefox and is more flexible.
I still needs it. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur whatever, 4 months ago
