ChatGPT Conversation Export is an unofficial Firefox extension that exports the currently open ChatGPT conversation to local JSON or HTML files.

It is designed for users who work with long or complex ChatGPT conversations and need a reliable way to preserve, review or continue their work. Very long conversations can become slow, difficult to browse, or harder to continue properly. Exporting the conversation makes it easier to keep a local backup, extract useful context, or restart from a cleaner conversation when needed.

The extension provides two main export modes:

• Readable conversation: a clearer version of the exchange, suitable for reading, filing, printing or preparing a continuation prompt.
• Complete archive: a more detailed export with additional metadata, useful for verification, diagnostics or long-term preservation.

Available formats:

• readable JSON;
• readable HTML;
• complete JSON archive;
• complete HTML archive.

The HTML export can render common conversation elements such as headings, lists, tables, code blocks, inline code, quotes, source references, attachments and image galleries when the required metadata is available.

The extension can be used from the Firefox popup or from an integrated export button inside the ChatGPT page.

Privacy model:

• exports are generated locally in the browser;
• the extension does not use any third-party server;
• conversations, settings and session tokens are not sent to an external service;
• the already active ChatGPT session in the open tab is used only to retrieve the current conversation during export.

Limitations:

ChatGPT may change its interface or internal APIs. If that happens, the extension may require an update.

Some images, sources or attachments may depend on the metadata actually returned by ChatGPT. When direct content is not available, the extension preserves useful references instead of generating fake previews.
