Thanks for the kind words and for reaching out instead of just uninstalling or leaving a negative review! :) I completely understand the hesitation - security prompts can definitely feel jarring.

I can confirm this is expected behavior from the latest update. Besides bugfixes, I’ve also introduced a small "one-time licence fee" for new heavy users (who use it for more than 30 long chats per day), as I find myself spending quite a lot of time maintaining the tool and answering users questions.
As an early user though, you will automatically get an unlimited licence on all your current devices when you update, and the extension remains 100% free and unlimited for you. The fee is only for new, heavy users.

But to support this system, the browser requires permission to talk to:

gptspeedbooster.com: To verify the extension is an official version.

api.freemius.com: Secure payment provider for license and payment handling.

Crucially: All message processing still happens 100% locally on your machine. No personal data or chat content ever leaves your device. These new permissions are only to do a basic check for a licence key and a call to a payment provider, when a user wants to buy a licence.

Hi Marsio, thanks for the feedback - it's of course annoying that it does not seem to work for you, and I would like to try and help.

Could you check that all the needed permissions are granted so that the extension can function properly?

If you right-click on the extension's icon in your Firefox add-ons bar and click 'Manage Extension', then look for the 'Permissions' tab and ensure all the toggles are switched ON.

None of your data ever leaves your machine (it runs 100% locally), but without these permissions, the extension cannot access the ChatGPT page to trim the messages or verify the extensions authenticity. Without this access, the lag-fixer remains inactive.
