sɣur Ali S. Fakename, 4년 전It kind of works... but it doesn't do what I want. I don't think it's something the creator can fix.
I have the same problem that a user SouthOkanagan reported in 2018, it won't allow URLs like https://www.google.com to be set at the new tab page.
The developer asked "Why would you want to do that ? You can search in the toolbar".
The reason I want to do this is because I **HATE** searching in the address bar at the top of the screen.
I want to have https://www.google.com appear whenever I open a new tab or window. I want the search to be focused in the centre of the screen, where my eyes are looking, not at the top of the screen.
It's crazy that Firefox doesn't have this as an option for new tabs anyway.
This add in is a great idea, but I can't use it for what I want... but that's:
a) Google's fault for not allowing embedding (though I can see why they do that to avoid some kind of "skinning" with keylogging or something
b) Even more so, it's firefox's fault for not having an option in the first place to set a custom URL for new tabs... sigh.

- This extension allowed me to switch from Chrome to Firefox since I've been using a Start.me page for a very long time and I needed the address bar to be empty when a new tab is opened.
Custom New Tab Page does the job flawlessly. An iframe is no problem for me since all links are opened in new tabs. Or you can just middle click them, you know. - Does exactly what I want it to do, I use this to make a "spacer" tab with my vertical tabs (since I have so many...), and I can set the title of the new tab to be a nice, visual "—————" instead of "about:newtab", which makes browsing through my long list of tabs much easier! Plus, the author's website at zen.mint.as looks super professional and works extremely well as a new tab page!

It is no exaggeration to say that there is a Firefox add-on market just for this. - Yettwasezmel 2 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 12781457, 일 년 전Firefox can't open this page
To protect your security, ..... doesn't allow Firefox to show the page if another website has embedded it. To view this page, you must open it in a new window. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 18097713, 2년 전Best option to have a custom url and not change the address bar, perfect
- Most other new tab overrides just redirect to the url. But this extension uses an iframe I think. Another plus is when loading the new tab page you can set it to be dark mode or light mode, so no more flashes of white when loading a page that is dark.
