This has worked well for a while, but the most recent update now causes google drive/docs to lag/slow down significantly while writing and navigating menus if dark mode is enabled. It was better before the update and I'm really sad to see it cause performance problems now.

the extention works great, but its annoying that to have text be in color any grayscale text doesn't switch to contrast background.

After the recent update, my version has somehow got changed to 1.1. Had to reinstal the addon to get current 6.3, which works properly again.

If you are having issues with the 2025.01.15 update, open the DocsAfterDark options (in the Firefox toolbar) and try switching some of the settings back and forth. For me, changing the document background to Default and back to Shade fixed the problem I was experiencing, namely the text had become too dark to read comfortably.

For the love of god don't update it again. It's fine as is.

This add on was good for a while, but this latest update must've messed something up because the dark mode no longer covers the full page. The top border of the text page and anywhere that hasn't been filled in by text are the default white of Docs. Please look into this and try to fix it ASAP, as this is really distracting and defeats the purpose of relieving eyestrain.

In general this add-on's been great, but I don't really care for this new update. I'm not sure what went on, but for some reason the page stays a white even when everything else, including the text, is in dark mode format. I've found that switching to the page-less format gets rid of this issue, but judging by the other reviews it doesn't seem like a lot of people know about this.

Got a notification that it updated today, and the text became hard to read gray. Had to disable, hopefully it can get fixed.

The massive sigh of relief I let out after finally seeing docs in dark mode after over a year of writing my book, holy crap. I've never been more relieved in my life!
Just install this extension, you'll thank yourself.

I dunno about you guys, but I consider the ability to see the color of text I have written in a specific color to be a pretty significant ability, one I certainly am unwilling to give away for an addon that can't affect some major portions of the Google Docs interface.

Fantastic add-on, I love that it gives the option to set a custom background color without having to actually change it or the default for the docs. I just wish it would update to apply the dark mode to the new Document Tabs feature since it is now permanent and clashes with the dark mode aesthetic. Aside from that though, I can never use Docs without it again! Never had any issues with it functionally.

Works as advertised.

It's exactly what it says on the tin and does everything expected of such an add-on; I can't recommend it as a five star experience to anyone else, even if it is for myself, but at the very least I'm confident in saying it's a four star program with some customization recommended.

the new tab thingy isn't updated to be dark yet

I've been using this all throughout college and my professional work. It's the perfect tool for me because I need Docs but didn't want to be on Chrome anymore. Highly recommend it.
