The extension replaces the new tab page with a list of search engines. Some of these search engines have additional security features including but not limited to:
- Query hidden from the url using POST requests
- Disabled ads
- Better privacy settings
- Disabled personal search (Google)

The extension doesn't use a single line of JavaScript and has JavaScript disabled and several other features disabled using a very strict Content-Security-Policy.
