Would be nice to be able to opt out certain websites.

My job requires reviewing documents uploaded to an online portal. Most are PDFs so no big deal, but clients often upload in .docx, which opens MS Word when I click the link. This slows my review process and is just irritating. I was looking for something that would open Word documents the same way it opens PDFs. After googling "why can't browsers open Word documents" and reading response after response that it's not possible, this add-on feels like magic - exactly what I needed!

Works flawlessly, well, I've just installed it.
One thing though; I had to go to settings, ref screenshot - and choose which extensions to auto-open in gdrive - but from then on it worked like a charm :-)

Will not handle intranet files (as Google can't get through the firewall!)

I'm having problems wiht the extension when I want to donwload a file from Outlook e-mail. Instead of viewing the file, appears a message taht says that the file couln't be found. I hope this coud be fixed. You should add an exception for Outlook e-mial and Office 365 e-mail.
