I really like this extension. People are such weenies for always wanting something for free. I wonder what how they would feel if their time an energy was taken for granted so flippantly. The funny thing is, there have been several times that I thought about how much I liked this and wanted to go for the paid version, but I couldn't figure out how to get a lifetime subscription. So if the dev would like to drop a hint, I'd love to pick one up!

Used to be free and perfect, but now the developer just chases money with a crappy subscription model, making this plugin completely useless now. Sad to see.

The fact that there is a forever licence is a good option, but not for 30 bucks. Maybe if that was 2.99 I'd consider it.

It’s never easy for users to accept when a product moves to a paid business model after being free for a long time. We’ve seen this before with the Reddit API, Twitter API, or YouTube introducing Premium. In the end, developers are free to take that step, and I think it’s unfair to leave negative reviews just because of that change alone (especially from those who never gave a positive one when everything worked alright which - to be fair - includes me as well).

That said, I would have appreciated clearer communication beforehand, and maybe a discount for existing users as a small thank-you for their loyalty. Still, this is ultimately the developers’ decision to make.

Personally, I’m not a fan of subscriptions. Right now, I’m still weighing whether to go for the lifetime option or to look for an alternative. But I genuinely value that a one-time lifetime payment is an option at all, it’s something you rarely even get to choose these days.

The extension itself has always worked flawlessly for me, both on PC and on Firefox for Android. Sites that weren’t supported were usually added quickly after reporting, which shows real commitment from the team. And considering work that goes into developing and maintaining it, the pricing feels fair to me.

No matter if I will decide to pay or not, I hope the developers manage to rebuild trust with their userbase and appreciate their work. At the end of the day - when we're ignoring the fact it has been free before - this is a solid extension at a fair pricing model, despite the shift to a paid model having tarnished our feelings towards it.

I'm glad that the developer has listened to the users feedback and increased the limit. Now the extension is at least usable, and perhaps even useful. Only time will tell.

I don't understand people being upset just because a developer wants to earn some money off his work, what's wrong with that? That being said, I still despise subscriptions in general, and $30 is way too much for what it does in my humble opinion.

PS: remember that not everyone lives in a "first world" country, so the value proposition changes depending on where you're from.

Edit2: Good extension, I appreciate the dev's communication and hard work. I saw the news about the generous 40 free clicks when I booted up a browser with the extension still installed. I didn't expect to editing my review again, but I thought some more about this extension recently and I think the pricing model is pretty fair. As long as the lifetime license price option never gets taken away from users.

Subscription business model slop. Boo. I would have purchased it if it was single-payment, developers have gone mad with subscriptions. Boo. Switching to Consent-O-Matic.

Simple and effective

Suddenly started charging a ridiculous rate for what was free. It is one thing to charge for your work - it is another thing entirely to suddenly switch to a paid model with zero transparency. The website for this extension doesn't mention anywhere that it is NOT FREE, nor does the extension page on the store. I will no longer be using this as a result

Update: the developer waited almost 2 weeks since my review, updated both this extension's store page and their website, and they've now posted a response claiming I was wrong. But neither place mentioned pricing (or "not free") when I originally posted. The pricing on the website is buried in the FAQs page, so technically it is there (as of now). Claiming that you informed customers of the business model change by putting in a pop-up that asks for money is not most people's idea of being transparent (compare that to a pop-up that warns me for several months in advance that you'll start charging)

I don’t understand where all the hate to this app is coming from. If you’re not paying your subscription with money, you’re paying with your data…

The extension itself works fine, but they have started charging for it.
Initially, it was completely free on both iOS and desktop. After that, they started charging on iOS after three pop-ups were blocked, but said that desktop would remain free.
However, I've just received a message from the extension saying that they will also only allow three blocks per day on desktop.
Consent-O-Matic is completely free, works just as well (or even better) most of the time, and is open source.
The daily messages telling me to pay on iOS were annoying; I won't put up with them on desktop either. It was nice while it lasted, but I'm going to uninstall it.
If you're OK with paying, go for it — it's a fine extension. Otherwise, just install Consent-O-Matic.
