It doesn't work on v59 - period. I hate motion on pages I'm trying to read, and I've tried repeatedly to find a way to stop these Giphy animations that appear all over the place. This extension has no effect on them whatsoever.

I really blame Mozilla for this. If Chrome can provide a built-in switch, so can you. Also, stop "improving" your products so that the most useful elements STOP WORKING.

I guess Giphy uses GIFVs, i.e. videos. I filed https://github.com/gavinsharp/SuperStop/issues/10 for adding that functionality to the addon, though I don't think I'll have time to fix it any time soon.

Setting media.autoplay.enabled to false in about:config might be an option for you.

Edit: I updated the addon -- Shift+Escape should now pause videos as well.

    Doesn't work in Firefox 110.0 -- it doesn't add any icon to the toolbar, and even after changing the key sequence, it still will not stop animated GIFs.

    Was working for me - until Firefox 108.0 when the default Shift-ESC key combination started to be used to open the about:processes tab.

    I consider this add-on one of the best in the repository. But now want to draw the developer's attention to the fact that it stopped working!

    This add-on used to be a godsend against Gifs and other animated/autoplaying content. You could also bind the SuperStop functionality to just the Esc key, making it even more natural to use. That's what the 5/5 rating is for.

    Unfortunately, it no longer works, effectively, 1/5. Please make this work again!

    Updated review for 4 July 2024: This was excellent back when it worked. Sadly it hasn't had any fixes in almost 4 years, and a Firefox update in 2022 broke it.

    It's a must-have add-on, but it does not work everywhere anymore, for example on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animation and on https://www.nrc.nl/. I hope you can repair the issue. Thank you.

    Still gave it 5 stars because SuperStop has worked perfect for years, but disappointed just now in seeing that it doesn't stop animated gifs in the Insticator commenting platform.

    A huge sigh of relief to find this! Thank you. -1 star because it would be better as a stop/start toggle. Sometimes it's hard to stop the animation at the right point (need to read it for example).
