This is a nice thought, but it's hard to make this automatic, since it's not clear when the page has loaded completely enough that it's safe to stop. I'd suggest looking into NoScript, or Firefox's built-in support for disabling animations (e.g. image.animation_mode, media.autoplay.enabled), or other animation-disabling addons.
