- Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur kjamcu, 21 giorni faIt works almost as intended. But Firefox frequently stops working when customizing my settings. Task Manager also shows increased memory usage almost to 100%, I just don't understand how this is so demanding?

yeffeɣ-d deg 21 giorni faHi there,
Thank you for using the Turn Off the Lights Firefox extension.
And for your 4-star rating.
Did you enable a certain feature? The Firefox extension is using a service worker, and it is manifest v3. So it uses less memory and is better in performance.

- Yettwasezmel 3 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 15097235, 3 mesi faDoes what it says on the tin. A few complaints:
1. Bloated with many features. I worry there may be a performance hit, as I already run about 4 YouTube extensions. I literally just want the cinema mode for videos on all websites. Enhancer for YouTube also achieves cinema mode, the main feature of this extension, for YouTube specifically. So I don't need all the extras. Not a big deal I guess. Extension might be better marketed as YouTube Enhancement Suite or something like that, since it does so much.
2. The preferred method of tutorializing is YouTube videos on their channel, and they want you to subscribe. No thanks; TTS robot lady creeps me out. Whatever happened to interactive tutorials? Just let me click through some popups, please.
3. Extension tries very hard to make you advertise for it. The Welcome Guide should be a tutorial first, marketing second. On the Guide they present you with "share on facebook and twitter" almost immediately, before the info about advanced features is introduced. It's not a small blip, it takes up the whole screen until you scroll past, making the bulk of the tutorial inaccessible until you do so. THEN, there is also a "share this" menu in the context menu of the extension icon, which helps you share the extension with a boilerplate ad, NOT share the video as the name might imply. Pretty much the same as in the Guide but more annoying, because you will have to mouse past this "share" menu every single time you want to get to the options menu. I get that this work is probably underappreciated and hard to make money on, but come on, this is ridiculous. Functionality first, please.
4. The options menu is too hard to reach. Gotta right click the icon > mouse past Welcome, Donation, Share, and Subscribe on YouTube (all self promo), click Manage Extension, click the 3 dot menu in the tab that opens, and FINALLY you can click options and get to the options page. It's just as out of the way as pressing Ctrl Shift A to reach the extensions page and then doing Ctrl F to find the extension, so on the user end, this is a waste of a useful menu. I know perfectly well they could just link Options in the context menu like FireMonkey does.
With all these little annoyances, the extension is not worth using for me. I would rather just make the window smaller or use PiP over my desktop background, if I really need a small video surrounded by dark. But maybe it's worthwhile for others.Tiririt n ineflayen
yeffeɣ-d deg 3 mesi faHi there,
Please for help and feedback use the official support page:
https://www.turnoffthelights.com/support -> email support.
1. The Turn Off the Lights browser extension is designed to work with all HTML5 video players and to enable Night Mode on all websites. By default, all of these features are disabled, so they do not slow down your web browser.
2. The interactive guide is available on this web page:
https://www.turnoffthelights.com/browser/extension/guide/firefox/.
You can also find it under the Guide tab in the Turn Off the Lights Options page.
3. The intention behind including the "share" options early on was to help spread awareness of the project, especially since Turn Off the Lights is a free and open-source tool maintained without external funding.
4. Firefox is the only web browser that makes it difficult to access the Turn Off the Lights Options page. This is due to a limitation on Mozilla's side, as Firefox hides the right-click context menu on the lamp button. In contrast, other browsers display the "Options" menu when you right-click the extension icon, allowing you to instantly open the Turn Off the Lights Options page.
That is why I created the double-click menu, the mini setting panel. And there you see also the big button "Options" to open the complete Turn Off the Lights Options page.
I take all feedback very seriously, and this extension has been built based on input from my users. The Turn Off the Lights browser extension is free and open-source. There is no other browser extension that offers this functionality for free across all web browsers.
