Initial release, supports Matecat and MemoQ (Web) Editor frontends, and EUR-Lex, IATE and Juremy.com backends.
Usage: with the extension enabled, log in to one or more of the frontends, and also open one or more of the backends. For example, open EUR-Lex search, Juremy.com, and log in to Matecat and create or open a new translation project. Ideally you should place the various windows so that you can see the EUR-Lex and Juremy results while working in the CAT tool.
While working in the CAT tool grid, currently the default behavior is (to be made configurable in later versions): when clicking the source segment in the CAT tool frontend, a full source -> target search is triggered in the backends. When selecting some part of either the source or target, the relevant text is searched in the backends.
Bonus feature: search the selected text in all backends using the right-click context menu.
Some caveats:
- IATE search is only triggered for not too long text selections (~5 words), since it is a terminology search, and doesn't by default perform term extraction.
- IATE search interface doesn't (yet?) support setting the source and target languages in a scripted way easily, so you'll need to select the relevant source and target languages. It is recommended to set both your project's source and target language as both a source and target in IATE, since we can't programmatically swap the language direction with IATE yet.
- EUR-Lex doesn't support setting the search language automatically either - please set it by navigating to search and editing the search URL's "lang" option.
Visual feedback: search backends that are active get a 1 pixel green line at the top of the page. If the line is red, that backend page is not active anymore and doesn't receive searches from the frontends.
Privacy(of this extension): this extension (unsurprisingly) sends the source or target text (or the text you highlighted for the manual context-menu search) to the search backends that you have opened, similar as if you have entered the text on those backend pages yourself. The extension does not share any other data with any other parties.
Privacy(of backends and frontends): this extension has no control over the data protection practices of various backends and frontends. Please consult those individually before using them.
Disclaimer(maintenance): the developers are not responsible for the behavior or change of the various backend and frontend pages, but rather provide interoperation with them on a best-effort basis.
Disclaimer(non-free services): some of the backends or frontends might require payment for some or all of their functionality to be accessible.
