Firefox does not support the WebHID API out of the box, so this addon fills the gap. Install it plus a small background daemon, and WebHID websites work as if Firefox supported them natively. Configure your custom keyboard in a web-based configurator (VIA, Vial, and similar), sign transactions with your hardware wallet from a web app, control your USB DAC from its browser interface, or use any other HID device, all without leaving Firefox.
Requires a companion daemon to talk to your hardware. It is a small, open-source background service (Linux, macOS, and Windows supported). Download and setup instructions: https://github.com/K4zoku/FF-WebHID

Features
- WebHID for Firefox: websites that already support WebHID work without changes.
- Fast and smooth: built for demanding devices that send thousands of updates per second, without slowing down the page you are using.
- Cross-platform: works on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
- Self-healing: if the daemon restarts or a connection drops, everything reconnects automatically.
- Hot-plug: plug devices in or unplug them any time; no page reload needed.
- Per-site control: set up each website the way you want and change it any time, without reloading the page.
- Device chooser your way: pick devices from a clean overlay, a popup in the address bar, or a separate window.
- Private and secure: websites can only reach devices you explicitly choose, security keys and the system mouse and keyboard are always blocked, and all data stays on your machine.
Installation
- Install the addon from this page
- Install the system daemon (see the installation guide)
- Visit any WebHID-enabled website and start using your devices
Privacy
- All device communication stays on
127.0.0.1(localhost) - No data is sent to any external server
- Connections to the daemon stay on your machine and are token-authenticated
- Device permissions are stored locally per site origin
