ApiChatbox is a browser extension that allows users to interact with OpenAI models by sending prompts and receiving responses within their browser. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

What Information Do We Collect?
API Key:The extension requests your OpenAI API key to connect to the OpenAI API. Your API key is stored only locally in your browser and is never transmitted to any party except OpenAI via their official API when you use the extension.
Chat History and Settings:Your chat history and settings (like model selection) are stored locally in your browser extension storage. This information is never shared with anyone else.
User Prompts:All prompts you enter, and the API key you provide, are sent directly from your browser to the OpenAI API via HTTPS. We do not intercept, log, or transmit this data to any other destination.
What Information Is Shared?
No Information Shared With Us:We, as the developers, do not collect, transmit, or have access to any information you provide via this extension.
Information Shared With OpenAI:
Your prompts and API key are sent directly to OpenAI’s servers (https://api.openai.com) when you use the extension.

Data Storage
All personal and chat data is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to us or any third party, except for your explicit use of the OpenAI API, as described above.

Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions:

Read and modify data you enter in the extension popup (for form fields, chat).
Access your browser storage to save API key, settings, and chat history.
Optional: access to capture screenshots if you use the tab screenshot feature (images are only shared if you send them and only to OpenAI for vision model processing).
How To Delete Your Data
You can delete your API key, chat history, and settings at any time by using the “Clear Chat” functionality in the extension or by removing the extension from your browser.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as needed. Any changes will be reflected here, with a new effective date.
