Privacy Policy
Overview
Save Image As Type is a browser extension that converts web images to different formats (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF) directly in your browser. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we do and do not collect.

Data we do NOT collect
Images: We never collect, store, upload, or transmit any images you convert. All image conversion happens 100% locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
Image URLs: We never track or log which images you convert or which websites you visit.
Browsing history: We have no access to and do not track your browsing history.
Personal information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information (PII).
Cookies: The extension does not use cookies.
Data we DO collect (optional analytics)
We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. This helps us understand how the extension is used and improve it. The analytics collect:

Extension installation events
Which output formats are most popular (e.g., "converted to JPG")
Error rates (to fix bugs)
Options changes (e.g., "quality slider adjusted")
Analytics never include image data, image URLs, website URLs, or any personally identifiable information.

Analytics opt-out
You can disable all analytics from the extension's options page. When disabled, zero data is sent to PostHog or any other service.

Permissions
The extension requests the following browser permissions:

contextMenus: To add the right-click menu items
downloads: To save converted images to your device
activeTab: To access image data on the current page
storage: To save your format and quality preferences (locally, never synced externally)
offscreen: To create a hidden canvas for image conversion
Host permissions: To fetch images from any website for conversion (images are never sent anywhere)
Third-party services
The only third-party service used is PostHog for anonymous analytics. No other third-party services receive any data from the extension.

Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's changelog.
