Improved security list
The extension now uses a live whitelist from our secure server. This keeps the list of trusted and semi-trusted websites up to date automatically.

Automatic updates
The whitelist is refreshed in the background every 6 hours. Updates are lightweight and privacy-friendly (no user data is ever sent).

Manual refresh option
A small sync button has been added in the popup. You can click it anytime to fetch the latest whitelist immediately.

Version info
The popup now shows the whitelist version and the last update time, so you always know which list is in use.

Bug fixes & stability
Fixed minor issues with the whitelist format and improved reliability when working offline.

On-page Live badge (overlay): briefly shows a small status label on the current page (e.g., check on official logins). Fully optional and off by default.

Add/Remove “Personally trusted” domains directly from the popup (in addition to right-click menu).

Improvements

Quiet by default: to reduce noise, toasts are shown only for official/green cases; other statuses are indicated via the toolbar badge and (when enabled) the on-page label.

Localization: overlay and popup text use the language files (NL/EN/FR/DE).

Onboarding: updated pages explain Live badge, permissions, and privacy.

Fixes

Firefox overlay styling: replaced adoptedStyleSheets with an automatic fallback to an inline <style> in the Shadow DOM to avoid “Xray wrapper” errors. This makes the Live badge render reliably on Firefox.

Popup actions: hardened message flow to prevent “The message port closed before a response was received” when adding/removing “Personally trusted” domains.

Permissions & privacy

Runtime opt-in: when you enable Live badge in the popup, the extension requests the optional scripting + <all_urls> host access. Used only to inject a tiny overlay script that draws a short-lived label.

No content reading/tracking: the overlay does not read, parse, store, or transmit page contents. No analytics/telemetry.

Turning Live badge off removes the optional permissions.

Notes

The overlay is not injected on restricted pages (e.g., about:*, add-ons store, extension pages).

Status legend: OK (official), ~ (semi-known), ! (unknown), U (personally trusted).

If you encounter issues, please try toggling Live badge off/on in the popup once, or reloading the extension.

We’ve made our extension fully compatible with Firefox while keeping the exact same features, performance, and user experience across all browsers. This update unifies the codebase so that Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox now run the same version without separate builds or functionality differences.

Enhanced compatibility for Firefox Manifest V3:
Switched from background.service_worker to background.scripts as required by Firefox.
Prevented issues where the extension was blocked from running on websites due to missing permissions.
Users can now grant access more smoothly without manual intervention.
Note: Firefox still requires users to explicitly grant site permissions on first use.

QR code functionality in the popup

Display a QR code of the current page directly in the extension popup.

Users can scan the QR code with the ItsReal app for additional verification.

On unrecognized or unofficial login pages, you can now right-click and ask a major AI service to check the safety of the website.

The question is automatically generated in your own language.
