When it works, it works well, it's simple and effective. However, it completely breaks audio on a lot of sites such as IMDB, where there is no sound, or Prime Video, which shows an error message if you try to watch anything. The only way around it is a four step process where I have to right click the icon, click 'Manage Extension', click the toggle to disable, then click back to the tab I was in. And then when I finish watching whatever video, I have to click back to the extension management tab and re-enable it.

It would be nice if there was an easy way to disable the extension in 1-2 clicks, or right click it and blacklist the entire site in the current tab so that it automatically disables itself, it would be much less of a hassle. Ideally, it would just work on all sites, but I'd settle for workarounds.

EDIT: Found another problem where it really breaks Bing functionality. I can't access the menu, video result previews don't play, and only the first 8 thumbnails load in, while everything else is a black rectangle. Image searches show a similar problem where no thumbnails below the top results load in. If I make my window larger, more results show, but as soon as I page down, broken.

Default behavior extension should only run on the tab when clicked. https://i.ibb.co/L9zdQsY/image.png if it's not working as expected remove permissions under about:addons.
This behavior works better on MS:Edge.

I'm not experiencing any issues with bing.com, the videos seem to be mostly youtube videos and they load as normal. Do you have other extensions installed? Also because MS love proprietary nonsense. I recommend using User Agent Switcher to make all MS junk to use Edge's UA.
Further changes to allow per URL stuff, and caching sites requires more permissions. This was originally meant to be low permission, and the smallest footprint volume control plugin.

    It breaks a lot of websites that has embedded videos, even sites that don't even have videos/sound at all.

    I was using a volume manager extension on chrome that one could increase and lower volume in some increments via customizable extension shortcuts. Mine were alt+up/down arrow keys
    It'd be nice if we could do the same here. We can already bring up the volume window by an extension shortcut. Why not add a few for up and down adjustments?

    It really shouldn't the only reason it should crackle is if you turn the volume past 0db because some audio sources might peak.
    Your issue of audio crackling is usually a non-grounded auxiliary or, a high memory latency / memory bug.
    When I was on z97 and had my memory set to 2133mhz [a very high xmp value for ddr3] the audio constantly crackled when running certain applications. This can also be experienced when running with a lack of buffer while using an ASIO driver.
    Completely unrelated to the plugin itself but maybe exacerbated by it.

    If you open the popup to control the volume then on most sites that have html video it should be able to increase the volume unless the site employs a strict CSP.

    This is the best volume add on I've used, many of the others are offshoots of the most popular one, which barely changes the volume of tabs and is rather useless. One thing to note that if it is not working on certain websites ensure you go into your settings and allow it to run on websites with restrictions or it will seem as if a website is on the blacklist even if it is not.

    The channels are not individually controlled so it shouldn't if you have issues with stereo you can employ mono.

    Thanks for the spectacular extension and link to source code; it is highly appreciated since most other "volume control" extensions on Firefox are sketchy or outdated. Works very well.

    No longer works on Meta-owned sites, which are the entire reason I installed it (given Facebook videos have no volume sliders). Trying to use it on Facebook or Instagram since the latest update now causes a "This site is in the exclusions list" despite having not changed any settings on my end. I'm sure this is due to a change with Meta, but it defeats the purpose of this extension for me.

    Unless it's in the exclusion list, it shouldn't display this message. Please paste your log in the github issues..... you can also temporarily downgrade to an older edition from the github releases page or the versions page on mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/volume-control-boost-volume/versions/
    Hope I can help you resolve your problem and you can revise your review to 5 stars. I jut do this as a hobby.

    Works good but on some web sites breaks audio completely (e.g. Steam) and it's not possible to know that audio is broken unless you know it should be playing on the website. Too much hustle...

    Its because steam blocks it in their CSP, sadly lots of CDNs do.
    I could individually add each one to the FQDNS list, but like you said that's a lot of hassle and it has to be reaproved by mozzila everytime etc.
    The way audio source is pulled is on page load. If it's doing it too late lots of sites won't interact with the plugin. Where as its an issue on sites with strict CSP as then it just blocks audio.
    So sadly there's nothing I can do about it, without further reducing compatible sites.
    Could maybe make a whitelist mode instead of a blacklist mode in the future.
