There we can communicate way better. - Vurdering: 3 av 5av Firefox user 13268901, 7 år sidanWhat happened to the fingerprint icon up in the toolbar on android FF? It is now gone so how do I know if CB is functioning correctly?
Svar frå utviklaren
posta 7 år sidanThe fingerprint icon should be present if you have notifications enabled and something was faked on the page.
You can check if CB is working on the test pages (e.g. https://canvasblocker.kkapsner.de/test/test.html - the hashes should change on reload).
Please open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues - there we can discuss better.
This issue is solved in 0.5.5 - Vurdering: 3 av 5av JxReach, 7 år sidan

posta 7 år sidanTell me what you dislike about the new version. Without this information I cannot improve CB. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Firefox user 14242164, 7 år sidanGreat stuff. I think this should be a "featured extension" in the pivacy and security category.
- Vurdering: 5 av 5av Firefox user 14054127, 7 år sidanNice, but the toolbar icon changes color sometimes (red/green). What do the different colors mean?
Green = I'm save, red = I'm not protected? And what do I have to do for it to protect me again?Svar frå utviklaren
posta 7 år sidanThe color change just indicate that something was faked. It's some sort of notification and nothing to worry about. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Detergent, 7 år sidanI tested this addon with the Panopticlick test from the EFF, and when I check the 'full results' it shows that the hash values are changed every time I have the addon enabled. So I guess it's basically ruining it for people who use these values to track you.

Please note I test the audio fingerprint at https://audiofingerprint.openwpm.com/ and it causes browser slowdown.Svar frå utviklaren
posta 7 år sidanI know - this page is not written in a peformant way. You can test the audio fingerprint at http://kkapsner.github.io/CanvasBlocker/test/audioTest.html as well. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Firefox user 14156124, 7 år sidanNice works.
Please note it does not detect (and block) the code embedded in a url through the
"data:text/html" directive.
I don't know if this method it's exploitable in a web page
example: paste the following code on your navigation bar
(It's a dots wave single pixel plotter, so it uses getImageData and it works even if you block the readout API):
edit: sample code moved to pastebin (sorry, pasting the code here does not works):

posta 7 år sidanGood point. I will see if this is exploitable. But please open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues where we can discuss the implications and findings. Also communication is much easier there. - Vurdering: 5 av 5av GregDT, 7 år sidan
- Vurdering: 3 av 5av Clemens Ratte-Polle, 7 år sidanWhere can i test the success of CanvasBlocker?
Does it make problems with twitter header image upload?
i got probsSvar frå utviklaren
posta 7 år sidanYou can go to http://kkapsner.github.io/CanvasBlocker/test/test.html and check if the displayed hash changes on every reload.
I know of no problems with twitter. But if you think that it is CB related please open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues - there we can communicate much better. - Vurdering: 4 av 5av Jezze, 7 år sidanDoesn't make my canvas fingerprint less unique. amiunique.org still tells me that my similarity ratio is below 0.1% which means I have a very unique canvas fingerprint.
Svar frå utviklaren
posta 7 år sidanIn the default settings the canvas fingerprint is changed on every page reload (you can test that on http://kkapsner.github.io/CanvasBlocker/test/test.html). Yes - this makes the fingerprint unique but since it is not constant you cannot be tracked.
If you want further information/discussion please open an issue on https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues where we can communicate nmuch easier.
PS: similar issue on github: https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues/154 - Vurdering: 5 av 5av Firefox user 13835690, 7 år sidanThank you for this extension (and for keeping it opensource). Nowadays it's getting harder and harder to get a sense of real privacy. CanvasBlocker + AdGuard for Windows + Privacy Badger + HTTPS Everywhere + custom user.js helps me feel safer on a growing data collection frenzy.
