As you found out already, the new permissions are needed so that Copyfish can communicate with the UI.Vision XModule, which it uses for desktop screenshots, for desktop OCR. Of course, you only need to install the desktop OCR module if you want to OCR outside of the web browser (e. g. from desktop apps, desktop dialogs, images, invoices, PDF,...)

1. It says it's open-source software (GPL), but nowhere on their site (or prefs) there is a link to the source. I can open the XPI file in my Firefox folder, but it's a good behaviour in the open-source universe to link it somewhere.
2. No dark-mode support. Maybe this has to do with the fact that it hasn't been updated since 2021. With dark-mode I mean the icon on the toolbar (should be lighter for dark-mode) and of course the pop-up window.

I reduce my notation for the fact that you have to go on a site to report a bug and having to register.
