Om denne utvidinga
Enigma 2.0 lets you encrypt plain text into stylized Matrix emblems (Katakana characters and symbols) directly on any website — including social platforms like X (Twitter), forums, and messaging pages.
Share encrypted messages publicly. Only people who know the password can read them.
What you can do
• Encrypt a text selection or an entire page
• Decrypt a selection or an entire page
• Use the right-click context menu for quick access
• Display encrypted blocks in a distinctive green Matrix style
• Enable optional auto-decrypt when pages load (if a password is saved)
How it works
1. Open the add-on popup and enter your password
2. Select text on any web page
3. Click "Encrypt selection" — your text is instantly transformed
To read encrypted content, enter the same password and choose "Decrypt selection" or "Decrypt page".
Security
• Client-side encryption using AES-GCM (256-bit) and PBKDF2 (SHA-256)
• A new salt and IV are generated for every encryption
• Your password never leaves your browser
Privacy
• No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry
• Password and settings are stored locally in Firefox only
• Text is modified only when you explicitly encrypt or decrypt
Good to know
Encrypted text remains visible on the page as characters (for example in posts or comments), but it is unreadable without the correct password. This makes Enigma 2.0 ideal for private notes in public spaces.

<span data-text-chiffrierer>is now fully removed on decryption instead of only replacing its content.isExtensionNode) for temp markers and matrix elements. This release focuses on stability when working with selections on modern websites (especially X.com with its translation tool and mixed-language content).
Stable encrypt/decrypt selection on X and contenteditable sites. Fixed partial replacement bug with mixed-language text. Matrix wrappers are now cleanly removed. Better compatibility between popup and context menu.
