NordVPN extension 2.21 is becoming what many of us want to avoid on the internet. During login it digs around inside browser and throws a captcha page. It is broken in browsers modified to limit this sort of negative behaviour. From a privacy and security company the behaviour of this extension is surprising and disappointing. Earlier version 2.17 behaves in expected and acceptable manner... it connects proxy and nothing more.
EDIT: Nonsense response from the developer. Classic deflect and distract to draw attention away from real issues. People need to understand this extension is heading in the direction of data miners and spyware.Svar frå utviklaren

I like the idea of Nordvpn as a solution but the recent update on the addon has included a recaptha, just to make the experience of having to login at every occasion even more sucky!!.. why the addon cannot remember the user is a human?.. fix it - don't just suggest reinstall.
Expect better from "the world’s #1 VPN".. the Linux experience is not as good as could be.Svar frå utviklaren

Sorry if this caused you any inconvenience. Но этот аддон просто не работает от слова совсем! Я даже не могу пройти капчу, не говоря уже о вводе своих логин/пароль. Похоже причина в uMatrix и возможно других блокировщиках. Но я не собираюсь отключать их! Мне важна работа uMatrix.

NordVPN markets itself as privacy respecting company, but insults the intelligence of customers by utilizing a for-profit captcha with hcaptcha, a company which accepts bids for the captchas solved by users to label training data for companies, potentially a very real threat to privacy through finer grained surveillance.
Keeping an extension logged in securely is not a difficult task and nobody else so far needed a captcha to keep users logged in consistently, so why not be honest with paying customers for once?Svar frå utviklaren

I have to click it, watch it start to grow at a painfully slow pace, scroll down in the tiny window, and then try to click "quick connect" on a moving target. I cannot think of a worse UI design.

Bug #1: after connecting and disconnecting, the country list just freezes. Bug #2: after some time, just stops working. TLS handshakes take an insane amount of time. The desktop application works better than this plug-in.

When I enter login and password, it shows SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRED. After pressing RENEW SUBSRIPTION, it opens a page with paid plans. I didn't even use it before. So it's not free as advertised.

- complains "there is something wrong with my connection" even though I can browse normally without any VPN connection
- does not connect to anything (i.e. takes forever "connecting" just to fail in the end)

They removed Socks and http servers for the country I used for years without notifying. So my only option to using a proxy in the browser only is this addon (without putting my whole connection over a vpn tunnel through the windows app).
Guess what, you can't pick which server you want to connect on this addon, only the country. Not only that, but disconnecting and reconnecting will connect you to the same exact server! So if the site does not work with given server, that's it, you can't select a different one from the same country.
I would rate 0 if I could, stay away guys. I have been a client of theirs for 5+ years but not anymore. Removing features overnight and forcing you to use this terrible addon is unprofessional.Svar frå utviklaren

While this rework is being performed, the majority of servers have this protocol shut down until completion of the rework. Barely works.
edit: More information in the litany of other complaints:
- Logs out frequently
- Speeds are super slow and unable to reset or connect to another server in this app.
- Often freezes and at a load, requires full close of all browsers to fix it
- "Failed to connect. Try again later." error for no discernible reason
- unable to select individual servers (like the desktop app) - heck, unable to see the server name to check if that server is good or bad. No way to just "connect to the next best server" if one doesn't work. You're left with disconnecting and reconnecting...
- Good lord are the speeds slow. Holy cow. Just thought I'd add that in a 2nd time.Svar frå utviklaren
