Realtime Chat
Fixed: Members of more than 100 cases now receive live chat updates again. Supabase Realtime rejects a subscription that filters on more than 100 values, so anyone in more than 100 chat rooms — up to 1,294 in production — had both their foreground and background subscriptions silently rejected and saw no live messages at all, with new messages appearing only after reopening the popup. Subscriptions are now split into chunks of 100 rooms or fewer, and each chunk reconnects and catches up on its own. Users in fewer than 100 cases are unaffected
Smokeball
Fixed: Case chat, case lists, and headers now show the synced Smokeball matter name instead of an internal identifier, and CMS identifiers prefer the Smokeball matter number over the internal ID
Fixed: Chat thread labels now reflect the room type, showing All Parties for case-wide rooms and the selected client's name for private rooms
New Features & Improvements
Smokeball Matter Import
Added: Cases can now be imported directly from a Smokeball matter page. The import panel detects Smokeball matter URLs, shows Smokeball as a CMS label, and the required Smokeball host permissions were added to the Chrome and Firefox manifests
Case List Search
Improved: Case-list search is rebuilt on the same command palette used elsewhere in the platform (org switcher, quick-find, CRM ⌘K), adding instant keyboard navigation and matching on client name, case type, and case ID. The My Cases / All Cases toggle and sorting are unchanged

Multi-Organization Accounts
Fixed: Users with multiple active organization memberships now resolve to the correct active firm across the extension. Case lists, chat membership actions, team-member pickers, organization settings, and analytics no longer fail with single-row lookup errors or pick an arbitrary membership when an account belongs to more than one organization

This release brings the browser extension up to parity with the rest of Quilia.

What's new

• Faster CaseChat first paint. Opening a busy chat room used to fetch the entire message history, sometimes stalling for seconds. The extension now requests just the most recent 50 messages on first paint and loads older messages incrementally as you scroll up.
• Catchup-on-reconnect. After a network drop, a laptop sleep, or a tab switch, the extension refetches the chat list and active conversation from the server, so anything that arrived during the gap shows up right away.

What's fixed

• Cold-start "permission denied" errors. Authenticated reads at the very start of a session no longer fail with a confusing permission error.
• Frozen unread badge. The toolbar badge no longer freezes at a stale count when your sign-in session expires, and no longer briefly drops to zero when the browser wakes the extension from idle.
• Error reporting on our side. We were silently dropping most error reports because of an over-aggressive filter. Real product errors now reach our team again.

- Per-client chat threads: Multi-client cases now show separate private threads per client plus an optional "All Parties" group thread, with join flow targeting the specific client thread being viewed
- All Cases view: Added "My Cases" / "All Cases" toggle to browse all firm cases, not just your own — available in both chat and activity views
- Portal sign-in: Added portal authentication handoff as the primary sign-in method
- Join and leave chat: Staff can now join case conversations on demand and leave them when no longer needed
- Read-only chat preview: Non-members can view full conversation history before joining, with a "Join Chat" button replacing the input area

• One-time password sign-in: You can now sign in to the extension without your password. After entering your email, choose "Send me a code" and a 6-digit verification code will be emailed to you — no password required
• Multi-step sign-in flow: The sign-in screen now guides you through a clear, step-by-step flow: enter your email, then choose whether to sign in with your password or receive a one-time code
• Consistent with the Quilia portal: The OTP sign-in experience mirrors the authentication flow used in the Quilia web portal
• Auth state survives popup close: If you close the extension popup while in the middle of an OTP sign-in (for example, while waiting for the email to arrive), your progress is saved. Reopening the extension within 15 minutes will restore your place in the sign-in flow so you do not have to start over
• Styling fixes: Removed leftover default CSS that was conflicting with the extension's Tailwind styling, and replaced the sign-in logo with a properly sized SVG icon

• Added signin-otp and verify-otp background message handlers to the extension service worker
• Auth flow step and email are persisted to browser.storage.local with a 15-minute TTL, cleared automatically on sign-out or expiry
• OTP requests use shouldCreateUser: false to prevent accidental account creation

• Session persistence fix: Resolved an issue where the extension would automatically sign you out after approximately 1 hour. The extension now properly maintains your session using Chrome's storage system, ensuring you stay logged in throughout your workday.
