You copy something, then copy something else, and the first thing is gone. Copybook keeps it.

Every time you copy or cut text on a web page, it lands in a side panel that stays open while you work — not a popup that closes the moment you click away. Search across everything you have ever copied and the matching words are highlighted where they sit. Click a text box on the page, then click a clip, and it is typed straight in — no switching back and forth to paste.

Each clip remembers the site and the time it came from, so a stray line of text from three days ago is still identifiable.

PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION

Copybook has no server. It makes no network requests at all. Your clips are stored on your own computer, in your own Chrome profile, and nobody — including the developer — can see them. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads.

MOVING TO A NEW COMPUTER

Hit Export, and you get a JSON file with your whole history. Install Copybook on the other machine, hit Import, and it is all there.

WHAT IT CANNOT CATCH

Some websites copy text by calling the clipboard API directly, usually behind a "copy" button. Those copies raise no event a browser extension can observe, so they are not saved. Ordinary Ctrl-C, Cmd-C and right-click copy are captured on every page. Copies made outside a web page — the address bar, other apps, chrome:// pages — are also out of reach, because extensions are not permitted to run there.

ANONYMOUS USAGE STATISTICS

Copybook sends a small number of anonymous events so I can see which features are actually used: that a copy was captured and roughly what kind it was, that a clip was pasted or copied, that a search happened, and export or delete counts. It never sends the text of a clip, the pages you visit, or anything you type. Switch it off any time from the panel's menu.
