What you have is a Brightness control and you are able to turn down the brightness and will stay at the level you choose untill you change the brightness level again , It should save on a little on power , battery and help your monitor as not at full brightness . Have you consider a slide control when you left click on the icon that would take you to extensions , So then the right click still turns it on and off and left click to get to the slide control .
