the number of permissions (and amount of private data it harvests from you in the process) is as insane as it is unnecessary for the small amount of work it needs to do under the hood. there are alternatives you can use that require no permissions beyond reading your browser settings

Been using this plugin since FF did out with the "browser.newtab.url" flag in about:config.

I understand FF did out with that flag because it was an easy target for malware, but I'll never understand why "homepage" isn't an option for the new tab page. This plugin adds such an obvious feature.

New Tab Homepage 0.6.2 installed on 2017-Oct-24 on my 3 computers. Thanks Ben for this new release (0.6.3 resigned1).

Doesn't select URL on new tab, one too many steps. Also doesnt seem to cache the start page, it loads over net every time.
