Data Collection and Storage
The Extension is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to our own servers.
Local Storage: All your preferences, settings, custom backgrounds (images/videos), and cached data are stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in storage capabilities (localStorage and IndexedDB).
No Analytics: We do not monitor your usage or employ any third-party analytics scripts.
External Services and Data Transmission
The Extension communicates directly with third-party services only to provide the specific features you use.
Weather Widget
Service Providers: Weather data is fetched from Open-Meteo. Location search is provided by Nominatim (OpenStreetMap).
Data Sent:
If "Auto-Location" is enabled, your coordinates (latitude/longitude) are sent to Open-Meteo.
If you search for a city manually, your search query is sent to Nominatim.
Privacy: These requests are subject to the privacy policies of Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap.
Search Bar
Functionality: Search queries entered in the search bar are sent directly to the search engine you have selected (e.g., DuckDuckGo, Google).
Data Sent: The Extension does not intercept, log, or store your search history.
News Widget
Functionality: The Extension fetches content directly from the RSS/Atom feeds you configure (or default sources like Wikinews).
Data Sent: Your IP address is visible to the feed provider when fetching updates, as is standard with any web request.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following permissions for these specific purposes:
storage: To save your configuration and offline content locally.
