If one could at least choose preferred nations rather than having to accept the default picked by the Proton extension, life would be easier. Otherwise, one must disconnect totally from Proton VPN and reconnect later -- or do a quick study in Japanese, Chinese (apologies, Aifun Ltd), etc.!
(Re: ProtonVPN's response) -- I've used NordVPN and Surfshark in the past and I lever lost my language choice. Neither one changed nor corrupted my browser language as ProtonVPN does. Both are linguistically "transparent to the user". If ProtonVPN thinks loss of legibility is "proof" it is working and that illegible browser output that cannot be restored--even when their VPN service is turned off-- is a good trade-off, they're naively mistaken. Proton VPN's algorithm of an arbitrary node selection with hopes that one gets the right language "brass ring" on Proton's node merry-go-round leaves no choice but to give up their VPN protection. Proton could offer users a language preference option, but that seems outside their wherewithal, unlike other VPN providers.
Of course, Proton offers the choice of a paid "upgrade" to solve the loss of language problem. My "test drive" of free Proton VPN shows that it cannot ensure language autonymy; why would I pay to risk more poor performance?

Data: miesiąc temuThis is expected since your IP address and geolocation are changed to appear as if you're in the country that our server is located in. It means that Proton VPN is working as intended. Whatever server you connect to, you're likely to be served content in the language of that server's country.
That said, the default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. You still have the option to switch to another randomly allocated server, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice.

Data: 5 dni temuThat doesn't sound right. Can you let us know if you're receiving any error messages? What are the exact steps you're taking that lead to the issue? - Ocena: 5/5Autor: Nomis, 7 dni temuThe Proton VPN has worked flawlessly, however it should be pointed out that I have had a number of issues based around cloud based services either responding with a 403 or 500. These seem to relate to specific services which detect and deal with proxy related services with a service specific response. When disconnecting from the VPN the servers respond in an expected way.
I believe that this is VPN based and not Proton based. It seems some of those submitting reviews may have experienced this. - Ocena: 4/5Autor: Hylton Conacher, 7 dni temuGreat product but does need some work on its proxy handling ie when visiting a site with stock prices, the price changed and after I refreshed the price had not changed on the display. When I changed end point and refreshed then the site showed the correct new price.

- Ocena: 3/5Autor: Almost9797, 12 dni temuThis is an easy-to-set-up VPN to use, with a well-known privacy-oriented company, and it's fast, i.e. the speed drop is not at all noticeable even with the free (non-media) bandwidth.
Unfortunately, if the extension is kept running while the computer goes to sleep, etc., the internet connection for the browser becomes unstable, including not being able to connect to any website. Turning off the extension restores the normal connection, but turning the extension back on still causes problems. At this point, removing and reinstalling the extension is required to get it working again. This is non-ideal. Some other reputable VPN providers may be easier to work with than this.Odpowiedź autora
Data: 9 dni temuSorry to hear that. We're aware of the issue, and our team is working on a fix to resolve it, although we currently don’t have a specific timeframe that we can share. Make sure to keep the extension up-to-date for any improvements. Meanwhile, we’ve passed on your report to the team accordingly. - Ocena: 3/5Autor: Użytkownik Firefoksa 19727755, 12 dni temuGood extension, but I confirm the bug reported by another user. If I close Firefox (Ubuntu snap) with the VPN connected and shut down my computer, at restart when I launch Firefox there's a notifiation indicating that the VPN is connected but the browser cannot reach any website and the extensions seems broken (blank menu on icon click). The only way to retrieve a working Firefox situation is to unistall the extension (if only disabled, Firefox stops working when reenabled).

From my limited testing it seems to be related to closing the browser while the vpn is connected.Odpowiedź autora
