- Crowdsourced softwares but having backend paywalled? Hope someone (such as Invidious team) to fork this and make it for free or at least have some kind of payment and validation that is actually anonymous (and not PayPal/VISA/MasterCard/...). Also sending a unique key that can be associated with the API calls even for once just for validation is not very good, if I remove that portion of code, the extensions' features may not work due to my extension is validated by the server.
Also a license key for those who don't want to pay: FoLI3-b678aResposta do desenvolvedor
publicado há 2 anosIt's only validated once when you click redeem. You are free to remove the code. It is not linked to your userID or any submissions. The only use of the stored license key is for you to be able to view it at a later time in the popup and options. - **Remember to donate whenever you can, to the developers but also contributors to the database**
if you use Firefox, you can bypass the licensing by doing:
Uninstall Dearrow completely to wipe the extension data, then install it again, don't interact with the extension at all (don't start any free trial or anything)
Go to: about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox
Click on `Inspect` next to the Dearrow extension
On the devtools window for the extension, go to the Console tab, then write at the bottom: chrome.storage.sync.set({activated: true, licenseKey: "remember-to-donate"})
This will modify the extension data so that the extension believes you were activated by the server with the `remember-to-donate` license key
Tested working on version 1.2.10 - "Open source" but the backend is paywalled. Paywalling any crowdsourced web service is plain unacceptable.
Edit: turns out my privacy concerns were unfounded, as the paywall is completely client side. It can therefore also be edited out with a single line of code.Resposta do desenvolvedor
publicado há 2 anosAs noted on the payment page at the bottom, the license key is used in one request to the server to validate it, but is then never sent to the server again. Your userID and submissions are never sent with your license key so they cannot be linked.
The extension is also not fully paywalled. You can still request free access using the button at the bottom of the page, and I hope many people take this option! I don't want everyone to pay - Avaliado em 5 de 5por Usuário 18023370 do Firefox, há 2 anos

Doesn't work. Titles and thumbnails aren't being changed. There are no edit buttons. YouTube is completely unaffected by this add-on.Resposta do desenvolvedor
publicado há 2 anosI determined the issue. It appears on Firefox 105 and lower. 1.2.9 includes a fix - Avaliado em 5 de 5por Usuário 13444066 do Firefox, há 2 anos

- gods, this makes youtube so much nicer. i never realized how much all the sensationalism effected me. upon install, i immediately went through and changed a bunch of my favorite channels thumbnails and titles- it was so much fun! get in on this extension early.
a small note- i'm using this with youtube enhancer, and because of how the submit thumbnail system is integrated, my text color settings on youtube enhancer effect it! which is wonderful! in fact, i'm using four different extensions on youtube, and loading times have only increased by half a second. how lovely. - Avaliado em 5 de 5por Usuário 17960838 do Firefox, há 2 anos

Oh, and don't forget to enable the feature where the developer criticizes you for stating this and tries to rationalize the paywall 😍
- Avaliado em 2 de 5por Usuário 17993023 do Firefox, há 2 anose2: my original complaint still stands since the default is forced for every client and there's nothing to stop everyone else from picking a worse thumbnail just because it picks whever you happen to be in the video when you edit it --- and it being a crowdsourced extension means that more often than not the thumbnails are an out of context or blurry mess. not to mention people editorializing the titles or overly sanatizing them.
e: thanks for the reply - guess i was blind due to the extension being tucked away in the 'more extensions' thing. still annoying that its default behaviour though, especially the thumbnail thing. surely picking a random motion blurred time is more detrimental than a potentially clickbaity thumbnail?
forcing titlecase is obnoxious, really wish there was a toggle for that as it kinda steamrolls the grammar/form of other languages just because they happen to use the latin script (!) or stylistic choices for the video title.
also by default it seems to choose your current position in the video as the new thumbnail even if you haven't explicitly picked it - a lot of times results in people removing an okay thumbnail and it getting replaced with motionblurred nonsense.
i know it sounds petty but if these are my only two bits of feedback then it must be good !Resposta do desenvolvedor
publicado há 2 anosPlease check the options, there are options related to all these things. You can even configure things like formatting to be different for specific channels - Avaliado em 5 de 5por Usuário 15221227 do Firefox, há 2 anosI love letting the community crush the stupid trends of marketing like this. I just wish it was more self-explanatory how to use the tool, as I actually needed to watch the how-to video to learn where to click to make my own changes, and even that barely covered the actual details of how it works.
