    "Script from this extension causes Waterfox to slow down" and the CPU goes 100% for no obvious reason. No, thanks, moving on to the next extension.

    Absolutely horrible. Runs scripts at the background to darken the pages, where a simple CSS-Edit shouldn't take minutes to adjust. Feels like having the worst VPN running in the background while scrolling a website.

    I installed this ... everything slowed down to a crawl. My PC is no joke so this was a bit worrisome. This should not happen to this level of PC for a "color filter".

    WORSE: I figured out why... When I installed this suddenly there was a new extra popover advertisement on youtube!!!! I instantly uninstalled.

    The advertisement stopped happening after I removed this extension. DONT TOUCH unless you like extra advertisements! The injection code can explain the slowness. They need to mention they inject code for advertisements.

    Its messed up to ask for donations AND advertise... Im going to report.

    Midnight Lizard does not inject any ads. Source code has been verified by Mozilla reviewers and certainly is safe.
    The problem with YouTube you described might be due to ad blocking extension you are using could not block the ad soon enough so you saw the beginning. YouTube is quite heavy website, but they have built-in dark theme so you can disable Midnight Lizard there by Alt+Shift+L keyboard shortcut.

    Good, but it's too heavy. My cpu fan of my notebook runs like crazy when loading pages. So, I revert back to 'Dark Background and Light Text'

    It looks great but it slows my firefox browser down constantly so its unworkable. Any alternatives out there without taking my browser back to the speed of the 90's?

    even having 5 add blockers, grease monkey and privacy badger running all at once doesnt slow my browser down like this shitty addon. 5 tabs open incl facebook and it's like i'm on a macbook from the stone age while it's a new 2017 macbook pro.

    "This extension (Midnight Lizard) is slowing down the tab, would you like to stop it" error pops up. It slows down all webpages I visit drastically. This should be fixed.

    If you see this message on some heavy websites you can switch Midnight Lizard to the Simplified mode which works much faster. Also it is possible to turn it off for that particular website.
    I'm making it better every version and in the next one I have some optimizations as well.

    Installed it last evening, and it worked well except for the occasional popup saying that it was slowing down my browser. I turned it off this afternoon, and tonight I reactivated it. Immediately my whole browser freezes, and then even windows hangs and it becomes completely unresponsive. Not even CTRL+ALT+DEL worked, and I let it chug for 5 to 10 minutes. Had to kill the power.

    Never had a browser add-on crash my whole computer, so unfortunately I have to give this 1/5 stars. If it had only had the few but noticeable slowdowns it would've been a 3½ / 5, and if no slow-down warnings at all, 5/5.

    The most resource intensive is initial page processing. After that Midnight Lizard does not consume resources if page is static. When you open pages one by one in most cases it is not that difficult for Midnight Lizard to process them. But when you already have a lot of opened tabs/windows and then you turn Midnight Lizard on - it starts processing all of them at the same time. Some browsers take care of this problem better than others. And I will try to fix it as well.
    With notification about slowing down you can fight with Midnight Lizard's simplified mode. In the next release I will try to optimize default auto mode or make simplified a default one.
