tip for those writing custom github searches:

wrap your search placeholder (%s) in double quotes

this is the oldest (longest-used) add-on in my Firefox which is still installed.

I remember having a bliss to use this add-on instead of manually editing XMLs and starting a local web server so Firefox recognizes them.

I don't have it enabled all the time but from time to time I still enable it to add a search engine. A shame this is a hassle to do in Firefox without, other browsers I use don't have such problems. Also it's sad there is no easy way to edit a search after it's added, without re-adding it with the edits.

It is the only way I've found to add SearXNG to firefox. It does what it says it does and it easy to use. Honestly Firefox should implement something like this in the Search part of the Settings as all the keyword stuff is limited by itself.

I used to use it regularly, but after updating to Windows 11 the other day, I couldn't use it anymore.
I don't know if it's Windows 11, Firefox, extensions, something else, or all of the above, but it's very disappointing.
