Excited to share that Recall Custom AI Personas are now live!

You know the frustration of giving your AI the same instructions over and over. No em dashes, no unnecessary colons, more professional please. Well, those days are over!

A persona is simply a set of instructions you give Recall once that tells it how to respond. Think of it as a consistent role, a consistent tone, and a consistent set of rules it follows before it generates anything. You set it once, and it just works from then on. Open the Recall Global Chat and click on the icon in the top left-hand corner to create your first persona.

WHY IT'S USEFUL

• Consistency. Your brand voice, tone, and rules stay the same across every chat, with no drift.
• Speed. Set your instructions once instead of copy-pasting them into every conversation.
• Specialization. Tailor a persona to a specific job. A research persona goes deep and cites its sources. A writing persona drops the citations so the copy stays clean and on-brand.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Create a persona with a role, a goal, the behaviors and rules you want, and a tone and style.
• Set custom rules that Recall follows every time, such as pulling exact timestamps from YouTube videos, citing every source for research, or avoiding buzzwords and hashtags when writing.
• Set a default persona that persists across the browser extension, the mobile app, and single-card chats. Toggle it on or off whenever you like.
• Switch personas per task, or stay on the standard prompt-free Recall persona as your baseline.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR FIRST PERSONA

1. Open chat and go to the Personas menu in the left-hand corner.
2. Click Add new persona and give it a name.
3. Enter your instructions covering role, goal, behavior, tone, and rules.
4. Save the persona, then select it in any chat. Set it as your default if you like.

Widget reloads correctly when navigating on single-page apps
Fixed an issue where the extension widget would fail to reload when navigating between pages on sites like YouTube or Twitter.

Overlays close properly when the extension is dismissed
Fixed an issue where modal overlays triggered by the extension would remain visible after closing the extension widget.

Improvements to error logging

What's new in 1.120

• The Recall panel is now per-tab again. Open Recall on one page and it stays scoped to that page, so summaries, chats and notes always match the tab you're working in.
• Smarter AI chat. You can now run multiple actions in one go (e.g. summarize, extract key points, and ask a follow-up question) without restarting the conversation.
• New keyboard shortcuts:
  • Alt+S — save the current page to your knowledge base
  • Alt+R — open or close the Recall panel on the current tab
• More reliable tag autocomplete when adding cards.
• Fixed a number of small issues that could cause the panel to close unexpectedly, send actions to the wrong account when multiple Recall accounts were signed in, or fail to initialize the root tag on first save.

New

• Concise and Detailed summary buttons are back above the chat bar in the Reader and Notebook tabs.
• Improved tag search in chat. Same improved ranking as the app.

Fixes

• Better article reading. Same reader improvements as the app.
• No more duplicate tags at the root of your tag tree.
