    Pinpoint Accessibility Checker 1.7.2

    New
    • Whitespace-only headings now flagged. Headings whose content is just spaces,  , or zero-width characters (e.g. <h2> </h2>) are now reported as errors. Previously these slipped past the empty-heading rule because the underlying engine treated non-breaking space as content.
    • Empty headings always reported as errors. Truly empty headings (<h2></h2>) are now consistently surfaced as violations rather than occasionally landing in the "manual review" bucket.
    • Platform-aware "How to fix" tips. When the page is detected as WordPress, Drupal, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, or HubSpot, recommendations now include a tailored tip pointing to the right place in the platform's editor or admin (e.g. "click the image block, fill the Alternative text field in the Block sidebar").
    • Paginated guided view. The guided "Top things to fix" list now offers a "Show 3 more issues" button when more approachable items exist, so non-technical users can keep working through fixes without being pushed into the developer-oriented Advanced view.

    Improved
    • Quieter Advanced-view nudge in guided mode. The prominent "See all findings" button has been replaced with a subdued, contextual note that explains Advanced view is for ARIA / markup-level fixes — reducing the chance a novice user lands there and gets stuck.
    • LibGuides scope preset broadened. Selecting the LibGuides preset now scans #s-lib-public-header, #s-lib-public-nav, and #s-lib-public-main (the full guide-author-controlled area), instead of just the main container.

    Fixed
    • Score dial stuck at 0 with reduced motion. Users with prefers-reduced-motion: reduce enabled at the OS level saw a permanent score of 0 with no progress ring. The dial now paints the final score and ring fill immediately when reduced motion is active.
    • Compatibility with strict Content Security Policies. All inline event handlers (onclick, onkeydown, onchange, onmouseover, onmouseout) have been replaced with delegated listeners using data-* attributes. The "Open the built-in Contrast Checker" button, instance navigation, dismiss controls, filter toggles, and update notifications now work on sites whose CSP omits 'unsafe-inline' for script-src.

    Versão 1.7.1

Lançado em 30 de abr de 2026 - 723,87 KB
Funciona em firefox 58.0 em diante
    Pinpoint v1.7.1

A polish-focused release: more actionable guidance, a redesigned results view, and a customizable on-page highlight.

    More actionable manual-review guidance
    • 30+ rule-specific recommendations added (aria-prohibited-attr, aria-allowed-attr/-role, scrollable-region-focusable, focus-order-semantics, presentation-role-conflict, tabindex, all six landmark-* rules, region, bypass, empty-heading, autocomplete-valid, meta-refresh, and more).
    • Even uncovered rules now surface axe's own failure summary instead of generic boilerplate.

    Inline links to built-in tools

Recommendations now contain buttons that jump straight to the matching Pinpoint tool:
    - Open the Contrast Checker (color-contrast — auto-prefills foreground from the failing element)
    - Open the Page Outline (heading-order, empty-heading, page-has-heading-one)
    - Open the Links / Alt-text inspector (link-name, image-alt, object-alt, etc.)
    - Open Color-blindness simulation (link-in-text-block)
    - Toggle landmark / tab-order overlays (region, landmark-*, tabindex, bypass)

    Customizable on-page highlight

New Issue Highlight controls in Settings:
    - Style: Classic, Outline, Glow, Dashed, High contrast.
    - Duration: 3s, 5s (new default), 10s, or Until I click away.

    Better guided-view UX
    • Clicking a "Top thing to fix" card now auto-highlights the first instance on the page — no more hunting for the "Show me on the page" button.
    • Stepping between rules also auto-highlights the new instance.

    Content-only scope for CMS sites

WordPress / Drupal / Squarespace / Shopify / Wix / Joomla / Webflow detection now offers a secondary Content only action on the platform-detection pill, so content editors can scope a scan to the page body without touching site chrome they don't control. Remembered per-hostname.

    Cleaner UI
    • Issue cards: dropped the heavy pastel fills, added an Error / Manual review / Best practice badge. Renamed Violation → Error.
    • "How to fix" callout gained a subtle border + shadow.
    • Contrast Checker dropped the redundant static swatch — the native color-picker chip is now the single color indicator.
    • Redesigned About view with hero, stat tiles, feature highlights, and iconed action buttons.

    Smaller things
    • Verified manual-review items use a calmer green tint.
    • Site footer pulls the version dynamically from package.json on every build.

  • Versão 1.7.0

Lançado em 30 de abr de 2026 - 714,51 KB
Funciona em firefox 58.0 em diante
    Version 1.7.0

This release adds score history tracking, platform-aware scan presets, and a more refined manual-review workflow.

    New features

Score history per URL. Every scan is now recorded so you can track a page's accessibility over time. A new History tab shows a score chart, issue-count bar graph, and lists of rules introduced or resolved since the previous scan. A small sparkline beside the score dial shows the trend at a glance. History is stored locally in your browser, bucketed by URL path, and can be cleared from Settings.

Platform presets. Curated scope and exclude rules for WordPress, Drupal, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Joomla, Webflow, and LibGuides. A Scan Mode dropdown picks between scanning the whole page (preset's excludes only) or just the content area — useful for content editors who don't control the theme. Preset choices are remembered per hostname.

Platform auto-detection. When Pinpoint detects what your site is built with and no preset is active, a small pill on the results page suggests the matching preset. One click applies it and re-scans.

Per-instance manual verification in Advanced view. Verify each instance of a manual-review rule individually via the Prev/Next pager, with a "X of N reviewed" progress indicator. Marking an instance auto-advances to the next unverified one.

    Improvements
    • Manual-review headlines now use suggestive wording ("Text may be hard to read") instead of definitive, reflecting that the checker couldn't measure a confirmed answer.
    • Color blindness simulation labels reference both sexes accurately (e.g. "~5% of men, ~0.4% of women"); autosomal variants noted as affecting men and women equally.
    • Dismissed-issues UI no longer claims dismissals are "false positives" — wording softened throughout.
    • Decorative thin-background gradients used as fake underlines are correctly recognized by the contrast checker, eliminating "black on black" false readings.
    • Picker-scoped scans now survive page navigation, or clear cleanly if the picked element no longer exists.
    • Settings dialog reorganized: Platform Preset moved to its own card above Scan Scope.
    • Save and Re-scan no longer wipes unrelated settings.
    • #wpadminbar removed from default exclude selectors — platform detection handles WordPress chrome contextually.

    Bug fixes
    • History wasn't recording successive scans on the same page. A 5-minute identical-run coalescing rule was eating new entries; coalescing now uses a per-session ID, so page reload + re-scan always appends.
    • History chart no longer fluctuates when you toggle between scan settings — entries are filtered to those matching the current configuration by default, with a "Show all scans" toggle available.
    • Manual-review checkbox state now updates correctly when navigating between instances in Advanced view.

  • Versão 1.6.3

Lançado em 10 de abr de 2026 - 666,16 KB
Funciona em firefox 58.0 em diante
This release brings a major upgrade to the in-app help system, polish across the settings UI, faster ways to scope scans on common platforms,
    and a refreshed score dial.

    New: Comprehensive in-app Help

The Help section has been rebuilt from the ground up. It now includes:
    • Keyword search across both tool features and WCAG criteria — type "contrast", "keyboard", "captions", etc. and matches highlight inline.
    • Tool guides covering Getting Started, Understanding Results, the Inspector, Scan Scope, Exclude Selectors, Pick Element, WCAG settings,
dismissing false positives, manual verification, and keyboard shortcuts.
    • Full WCAG 2.2 reference — every success criterion from 1.1.1 through 4.1.3, including all the time-based media (1.2.x), pointer/target-size
(2.5.x), and authentication (3.3.x) criteria added in WCAG 2.1/2.2.
    • Dynamic level filtering — the WCAG list adapts to your selected conformance level. Set Level A and you only see A criteria; set AAA and you
see all three. Switching the level in Settings updates the help section immediately.

Exclude Selectors: Pick Element + Platform Presets

Excluding sections of a page from a scan is now much faster:
    • Pick element button next to Exclude Selectors — visually click an element on the page (just like Scan Scope) and its selector is added for
      you.
    • Platform Preset dropdown auto-populates exclusions for popular CMS toolbars: WordPress, Drupal, Squarespace, Shopify, Wix, Joomla, and
      Webflow.
