A Gentle Reminder does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
Everything the extension stores — your session history, settings, focus templates, and profile name — is saved locally in your browser using Firefox's built-in storage.local API. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server, including ours.
What is stored locally:

Your name (entered during onboarding, stored only on your device)
Session history including task names, durations, categories, and distraction notes
Focus templates and timer settings
Streak and activity data

What we do not do:

We do not collect analytics or usage data
We do not use cookies
We do not communicate with any external server or API
We do not display ads
We do not sell or share data with third parties — because we never receive any data in the first place

Permissions explained:

storage — to save your sessions and settings locally in your browser
alarms — to fire timer and break notifications at the right time
notifications — to alert you when a session or break ends
tabs — to detect when you visit a distracting site during a focus session (Focus Guard); no browsing history is recorded or stored
contextMenus — to let you right-click selected text and save it as an intention or distraction note

Data removal:
You can clear all stored data at any time from the History screen inside the extension, or by removing the extension from Firefox entirely.
