por Utilizador do Firefox 19258106 , há 2 meses The extension looks the part but has usability issues that need managing manually.
The main usability issue is that if you're connected to a VPN server and the computer goes into sleep mode then later resumes, the connection isn't refreshed/handled properly, effectively blocking traffic until you manually disconnect/reconnect. Occasionally this issues causes the GUI to become unresponsive too, requiring the extension itself to be restarted.
There's also no feedback given on the connection quality/speed of the server you're currently connected to. If it starts to feel slow, it requires manually moving to another server; there's no automatic transfer to a better equivalent server within the same country.
Not a negative mark on the extension per se - but it's worth noting that there's a growing list of websites that will detect you using a VPN (likely through matching your IP against IPs known to belong to Proton/etc.), making VPN usage for 'general' anonymous browsing more and more frustrating.
Proton VPN itself works well and provides lots of protections and connection configuration; it's just the extension that has a few issues really.

publicado a há 2 mesesThank you for your review. Could you share more details about the connection issue? Are you able to consistently reproduce it? Which version of Firefox, as well as the Proton VPN extension do you have installed? What device are you experiencing this issue on exactly? Contact us by clicking on Help in the Proton VPN extension, then selecting 'Contact us' so we can help you troubleshoot.
On another note, some websites block known VPN IP addresses. Let us know which websites you're having trouble accessing, as well as the servers you're connected to in the process so we can help. Meanwhile, you can try switching between multiple different servers to see whether the behavior improves with some of them.
Lastly, we've documented your request regarding automatic reconnection to a faster server for future consideration.

- Does the job, but it does it in the most basic and annoying way possible, for example you can't set up a default country (i.e. USA) and you instead have to constantly scroll down and activate your country of choice manually every time you want to use it because it resets the list position back to the beginning any time you click on anything...
This wouldn't be a problem if not for the fact that you can't invert split-tunnelling — I literally only want to use the VPN for one or two sites that I have data on that are blocked in the UK but I can't without it causing problems everywhere else — so I have to continuously Connect/Disconnect via the long-winded means I mentioned above every time I want to use those sites.
Other than that, no issues, but I won't be resubscribing as it's really too much faffing about for something that you should be able to set up as a one-click connect. - Avaliado em 1 de 5por Ridiculous_George , há um dia
- Avaliado em 5 de 5por Utilizador do Firefox 18835325 , há 3 diasProton's full suite of services has been great for me and I have had no issues whatsoever with Proton VPN. Sure the paid version is way better (that's what I use) but I used the free version for a while first. I can't think of many other free offerings that have a proven track record of caring about your data. If all you care about is getting around certain online Acts - proton free is perfect. For me - the paid version is exceptional.

BUT before you close the browser you need to disconnect from the VPN bc if not you might get stuck in a limbo state but it is fixableResposta do programador

Everything is so great in the service and this plugin particularly. Also, I'd like to mention that Proton helps to so many low-on-fund people by giving them opportunity to use it free (with random location).
- Avaliado em 4 de 5por Nick , há 16 diasHaving an issue with the split tunnelling not working. When trying to watch a Youtube video it will endlessly buffer if connected to certain counties, even though I have it and all subdomains excluded from the VPN connection. The video will load when connected to my home country, so something about the subdomain exclusion isn't working as intended.

- Avaliado em 5 de 5por Halbour , há 17 diasa great extension. works well without bloat in it. For free users, this is especially good, since you can protect your privacy on the internet for $0. This is honestly awesome, and the only free VPN I'd trust.
- Avaliado em 3 de 5por User , há 19 diasHello, glad to see that these reviews are actively monitored and responded to. A major issue that I have had with this extension for ages is that I cannot pin certain locations to the top of the country list, or set a certain location as default as is possible in the mobile app versions of ProtonVPN. It is tedious to have to always search or scroll far down to get to the desired location. Please add this feature.
