Installation

A Note on Philosophy

Prodigy markets itself as an educational platform that makes math fun for kids. That's a great mission — one that gets undermined every time a child finishes a battle and gets a popup asking their parents to upgrade. It's undermined every time a kid sees a friend's cool pet and learns their version of the game won't let them have one.

We built Play Origin because we believe a free educational game should actually be free. Not free-with-an-asterisk. Not free-but-most-of-it-is-locked. Just free. The math is the point. Everything else should be along for the ride.

Play Origin is also an open-source security awareness project. For over five years, the community has been discovering and documenting bugs in the math game — client-side vulnerabilities, unvalidated game logic, and exploitable systems — and encouraging its developers to fix them.
