I found this extension unusable. I doesn't do what it says, or at least not in any way I could find. A total waste of time.

Slow, search and bookmarks manager not working.

As an alternative to “Go Parent Folder” I discovered and used “Bookmark Manager and Viewer”. It would (past tense) display a tree of the folder containing a particular Bookmark. After working for a while the tree was no longer accessible for the Bookmark, rendering the Extension useless. This had problems from the beginning because it was very slow, but at least it worked.

If you visit the comments section of this Extension you will find many others that have also discovered that this Extension no longer works. Why? I have no idea. It seems that it may be that Firefox has been updated so even this Extension no longer works. This begs the question of why those who manage Firefox development seem determined to destroy a valuable extension that has been needed LONG before the development of Quantum, including that of “Go Parent Folder”.

Be that as it may, the following is a FALSE statement by the developer of “Bookmark Manager and Viewer”, InBasic; “…It is even possible to drag a bookmark to a new position in the tree or create a new directory and place the bookmark inside it. ...” As stated above, the “tree” is no longer accessible. This statement is current as of this writing. This developer, unlike others, has seen fit to not answer the concerns of the many who have made the same criticisms.

One of our other major complaints has been the placing of FEBE by Chuck Baker among the many categories of “Legacy Extensions”. FEBE, in particular, makes it dangerous to try any Extensions without a backup that FEBE provided. As a consequence there is no way to easy recover if a disaster occurs, such as destruction of all Bookmarks.

As far as suggested “work-a-rounds” are concerned, that is NOT the answer. The answer is to provide an easily usable Extension for EVERYONE. Absent that perhaps Firefox by Mozilla should get off trying to sell its major mission of being a “global community working together to keep the Web open, public and accessible to all.” That appears to be a “fake” statement of policy, to use a well-worn word that that has entered the popular vernacular.

I tried to move these comments to the top, because I submitted this on 2/12/18. However it remains in its original position and there is no way to delete the previous post so more current experience can be displayed.

Required add-on but needs further work
1) Clicking on the "bookmark manager" button results in an error - "Illegal URL: chrome://bookmarks/"
2) The search is not working well, there are a lot of links in the results that do not contain a search string in either Title or Address.
Perhaps you should do a search by Title and by Address separately.
Those. make a search option with a choice - either by title or/and by Address

Not working on Android…

Awful can't sign in can't import bookmarks but password works on my pc

It Works! But UI can be improved!
ex. use dedicate bookmark/folder icon when icon can't be retrieved

it indeed elegant and fuzzy, but it's slow, too slow in fact.

Firefox built in Bookmark Menu is far better, it's a button too that you can put at the toolbar.

I don't see a workaround for "Open Enclosing Folder" in this addon ?!
Search takes very long compared to internal bookmark manager and renders FF unusable for minutes (5000+ bookmarks, FF 55 with disabled e10s)

After I killed the FF process, the button was gone. Not even shown in "configure UI" menu. It helps to disable and reenable the addon.

Noooo... To get icons, It refreshes all my bookmarks with bookmarks as login on some online services so now all these accounts have updated last seen time...
Future of FF with Webextensions isn't clear if addons do what they want and can't be controlled by user not vice-versa...

So addon is helpful to locate a bookmark folder, to find folder that contains an specific bookmark

When I click addon button it opens a small, compact window of it's own, how to make that open in a tab instead?

If you an extension "Manager", it should be able to do many things. THIS extension has pretty limited functionality. Without such basic functionality as import/export of bookmarks it is NOT a manager.
Name your extension properly. Then nobody will expect much from it and you may get more stars.
