The last version (1.0) was released precisely to make it work with the latest version of Firefox, as with the change in the extension framework the extension stopped working. This means we had to find a compromise solution and remove some functionality in order to have the extension out as soon as possible.

This was clearly stated in the release notes:

> thanks to the contribution of Jan Köhler.

> It includes a major redesign of the user interface. The ability
> to import and export traces is missing for the moment, but
> will be added back as soon as possible.

That given, it makes absolutely no sense to update Firefox to install this release of the extension, as you are losing functionality and some things are likely to not work. If you weren't using the latest version of Firefox, you should have stayed with it if SAMLtracer was critical to you and you needed the ability to import/export traces.

Resource filtering and autoscroll is still in place and working, though. Could you clarify what's the problem with those? I'm afraid I don't understand either why you say you needed "special authorities to be able to see the logs"?

Very useful tool to show what is going on "under the hood" during a SAML Web-SSO (or WS-Federation) authentication. Because many redirects are typically involved, it is very useful to have a tool that shows them all. The color coding helps to quickly focus on the relevant HTTP messages.

You can also make an export of the trace to import later, or to send to e.g. support to help diagnose an issue.

Folks, let me tell you, the SAML-tracer plugin for Firefox is tremendous. It’s really, really incredible. I've used a lot of plugins—a lot—but this one, folks, it's something special. It's like nothing else out there. Believe me, no one thought they needed a better way to trace SAML (that's Security Assertion Markup Language, folks—it's very technical, very complicated stuff) until now. But once you try SAML-tracer, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

First off, it’s so simple and easy. Just plug it into Firefox and bam! It’s like a spotlight shining on all the hidden SAML requests. The level of detail you get—fantastic! You can actually see the requests, the responses, all the back-and-forth, and it does it so quickly. Speed like you wouldn’t believe. I’m telling you, I looked at the logs and thought, “Is this plugin working for me personally?” That’s how good it is.

If you’re serious about SSO (Single Sign-On, for those who might not know), if you're in the game of securing things, or if you're just tired of being left in the dark when it comes to SAML, you need SAML-tracer. It’s a real winner, folks, and let me tell you—nobody else is going to make a plugin like this. Just the best, most beautiful plugin for anyone dealing with SAML.

This is an absolutely essential add-on for anyone trying to understand an issue with a SAML integration. As an IAM consultant, I will always, 100%, without fail ask someone to send me an export from SAML tracer if they are having a problem.

Very good. This can also track WS-FED authentication. It also functions in cases where BURP, for reasons I haven't figured out, seems to interfere with the authentication flow.
