This is a great idea for an extension, and some of the years-old reviews made me think it may have been unfairly maligned, but unfortunately it doesn't currently work/do anything.

No additional buttons or options appear on or around the video, and the extension icon is grayed out/marked as being unable to do anything on youtube.com.

It doesn't request any permissions from Firefox, not even, "access your data for youtube.com", and there's no way to manually give it those permissions in the options.

In short, I think Firefox probably updated the way it handles permissions, and since this hasn't been updated in 2 years, it's lost compatibility.

If the project ever gets picked up/becomes active again, though, I'd try it again.

Adds an icon that opens a new window filled with only the video. This extention provides similar functionality to the Firefox integrated pop-out video. I use this extention together with DeskPins for Windows, allowing me to set the video window always on top of any other opened windows.

Not sure what people are complaining about, all the extension seems to do is add an icon in the address bar that open the video in it's own window..

Very good extension, does what it promises... It was all I wanted. Plus, I learnt in the review section that you can use VLC and other players, but this extensions makes things soo much easier. Thanks!

This add on doesn't exist, let alone work. unacceptable

Everything would bee good if the choosen resolution window is right size. If I choose 1080p resolution window size is little smaller than actual 1080p resolution. Can you fix this? Thank you!!!

Core function works reliably, but it there are minor features that could be added to improve user experience.

I've been using an external application extension to open open youtube links in mpv, but that does't let *the algorithm* know I've actually seen the video. I wish it was possible to launch this extension from the context menu right-clicking " youtube.com/watch?v=..." links from youtube subscriptions page or 3rd party sites.

Another minor gripe is that after a video plays in the popout player, clicking on the suggested videos open in a new firefox tab (not the popout player)

It's not working for some reason.
Upon clicking the button, the video on the tab pauses, a popup appears with a loading icon, then it just shows "Video unavailable", and 3 videos are suggested in the embed.
Tried it with multiple videos, and with/without private browsing
Also when clicking on the suggestions of a video that's opened via private browsing, a new tab opens outside private, so that's a leak, and I'm not sure if the popup is keeping the private browsing, or the video is logged as seen with my account outside private

It would be perfect if you could just pin it on top of all other windows. Like lock it on top. So you can watch it while you are changing tabs and click all over.
