Starting with version 3.2.4 (it's live now! you can update the extension in Extensions -> Settings -> Check for Updates), audio should not be muted on any websites, and audio recording should work perfectly almost everywhere, including basically all video players.

Definitely wasn't the case of abandoning the extension or using it for advertising a service; it's just incredibly tricky to get audio recording working on Firefox, as the browser doesn't support direct audio capture from the tab. But these days for some reason youtube and other video formats lose all sound whenever I try to use the extension. And need to be refreshed to get sound again.
Additionally the Reddit video player (cursed be its name) doesn't work too well with it and it can't recognise the sound from it.Ответ разработчика

BUT, JFYI, song recognition on some sites, like twitch is PAID and on some other sites (like top-radio.ru) it is just dont working ("start error: can't find any unpaused media elements", its said)..Ответ разработчика

What happened was that we tried to fix audio recording that basically stopped working on YouTube and many other websites, but introduced a bug that prevented audio from being played back. Apologies if the interface is not clear on that. You don't need to have an API token to use it. The field to provide an API token is only for people who otherwise have an API account and, e.g., want to use the extension for work purposes. If you don't have one, you can leave the field empty and use the extension completely for free, with the temporary exception of a small number of websites where there’s a lot of abuse (on the order of $200/300 per month in server costs).
