This Privacy Policy explains how WADDAWOO LIMITED, trading as SyllableReader ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the SyllableReader browser extension and website at syllablereader.com.

As Data Controller, we determine how and why your personal data is processed. Where we use third-party services (see Section 4), those services act as Data Processors on our behalf.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Lite users (free)
If you use SyllableReader Lite, we collect no personal data. The extension processes all text locally in your browser. No page content, browsing history, or personal information is transmitted to our servers or any third party.
2.2 Pro and Elite subscribers
When you purchase a Pro or Elite subscription, Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor) collects your name and email address as part of the checkout process. This is necessary to issue your receipt, manage your subscription, and send your licence key.
Separately, we store the following data in our licence database (Supabase):Your licence key (generated by Lemon Squeezy)
Your subscription tier (Pro or Elite)
Activation count (number of devices the key has been used on)
Activation status (active or deactivated)
We do not store your name, email address, payment card details, browsing history, or any page content you interact with in our own systems. Your name and email are held solely by Lemon Squeezy in connection with your purchase.
2.3 Payment data
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, Inc. We do not receive or store your payment card details at any point. Lemon Squeezy acts as Merchant of Record for all transactions, meaning they handle all payment processing and tax obligations. Their privacy policy is available at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
2.4 Support enquiries
If you contact us by email, we will retain the content of that correspondence in order to respond to you and maintain a record of the interaction. We do not add you to any mailing list as a result of a support enquiry.
3. Lawful basis for processing
We process personal data on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:Performance of a contract — processing your licence key data is necessary to provide the paid service you have purchased.
Legitimate interests — retaining support correspondence is in our legitimate interest to maintain accurate records and provide effective customer support.
Compliance with a legal obligation — where we are required to retain data by applicable law.

5. Sub-processors (third-party services)
We use the following third-party services to operate SyllableReader. All are engaged under appropriate data processing agreements:

6. International data transfers
Lemon Squeezy, Supabase, and Vercel are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. These providers operate under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the relevant authorities, which provide equivalent protections to those required under UK GDPR.
7. Data retention
Licence key records in our database are retained for as long as your subscription is active or for a reasonable period thereafter for dispute resolution and legal compliance. If you cancel your subscription and wish to have your licence record deleted, email support@syllablereader.com and we will remove it within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements.
Support correspondence is retained for up to 3 years from the date of last contact.
8. Your rights
If you are located in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification — to request correction of inaccurate data.
Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Right to restriction — to request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.

The SyllableReader website (syllablereader.com) does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The browser extension does not set any cookies.
10. Children's privacy
SyllableReader is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@syllablereader.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users. Continued use of SyllableReader after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
