Privacy Policy for VocabTap

VocabTap respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension may access, store, and sync, and how that data is used.

1. Information the extension accesses

VocabTap may access the following types of information:

Text selected by the user on webpages
The current tab or page context needed to process the selected text and open related extension features
Data stored in the browser such as settings, saved vocabulary, and quiz state

VocabTap only accesses selected webpage text when required for its learning features, such as word lookup, saving vocabulary, or creating quizzes.

1. Information the extension stores

VocabTap may store the following information locally in the browser:

Saved vocabulary
User settings
Quiz progress and quiz state
Temporary data required to open and manage popup windows or quiz windows properly

This data is used to provide the core learning features of the extension.

1. Cloud sync and sign-in

VocabTap may offer optional Google sign-in and cloud sync features.

If the user chooses to use these features, some extension data may be transmitted to and stored in cloud services such as Firebase or Firestore for synchronization purposes.

This may include:

Saved vocabulary
User settings
Learning progress
Other extension-related study data needed for sync

Cloud sync is used only to support the extension’s functionality and improve continuity across sessions or devices.

1. How the data is used

VocabTap uses data only for the following purposes:

Looking up selected words or text
Saving vocabulary to the user’s study library
Opening quiz popups and related study features
Saving settings and learning progress
Synchronizing study data when the user enables sign-in or cloud sync

VocabTap does not sell user data.

VocabTap does not share personal data with third parties except when necessary to provide core services selected by the user, such as authentication or cloud synchronization through Google/Firebase services.

Users can control their data by:

Removing saved vocabulary or settings inside the extension
Disabling cloud sync features
Uninstalling the extension
Clearing browser extension storage data
Logging out of the extension, if sign-in is enabled

Reasonable measures are taken to protect stored and synced data. However, no method of storage or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
