autor: Smudge6530, pred 5 rokmiA lot of the 1* reviews are from 3 years ago, when it seems a Firefox 'update' broke the add-on. Now, it would appear, that this problem has happened again. _ _
Up until a few months ago, this was one of my most used add-ons; and was well worthy of 5*. _ _
However, for the last few months the Add-on has refused to work, regardless of my trying all the different options on the settings page. EVERY time a selection is made the Add-on opens the Google translate page with the message, "Addon needs to update some data from 'translate.google.com', please try again after few seconds".
At first, in the first month, after the update that broke the Add-on, it used to then tell you it was okay to close Google Translate, but now it doesn't even do that.
I've been patiently waiting for the developer to fix the problem, but after 3+ months,with NO ACTION, it seems clear that the Dev has abandoned his Add-on.
Therefore, I can NOT RECOMMEND this, once useful, Add-on. Time to find another option.

The addon stopped working because Google discontinued the google.com/async/translate endpoint it relied on, as well as the TKK token system used as fallback.

It saves a little time as it takes you write to the text boxes and you can translate an entire page. Google is getting good at translations, fewer and fewer nonsensicle results. But of course they are spying on you and profiling you when you use it, because that is the evil nature of google. But it works better than imtranslator which puts malware on your machine to open their webpage w/out your permission.
