— Uporabnik Firefoxa 14792473, pred 5 letiseems very nice, thank you !
but,
- I can't follow instructions because extension is translated (in French)and I can't choose english so: how do I disable translation (to have it in English) ?
- Instructions are not really clear: what are letters displayed on the icon ? When I go on a test fingerprinting page, it changes from green icon to red, show some numbers (of fingerprinting attemps I guess) and then there is a letter like "C" or "D": what does it mean ? Didn't found anything about that
- on the provided test page "Canvas test", it is said that hash are expected to be the same when refreshed. What does it mean if they change (when I click "refresh" button hash change) ?
-On the configuration page I have a text highlighted in red saying something in French (thus why is it translated by default if I don't want ?): "Vous avez activé la protection contre le pistage de Fingerprinting (empreinte digitale – composants de l’ordinateur)." = "You have activated protection against fingerprinting (fingerprint-computer component): what does it mean ? is it bad or good and if bad what can I do ?

objavljeno ob pred 5 letiThe extension is translated in several languages (https://crowdin.com/project/canvasblocker) and the main language is English. As the used language is controlled by Firefox you have to check your browser settings to know why it's displayed in French.
The letters on the icon indicate which APIs where protected by the extension (C = canvas, D = DOMRect, N = naivgator, W = window, A = audio). If you hover over the icon with your mouse you should get a tooltip with further information. But you get the detailed information when you click on the fingerprint icon in the url bar.
If the hashes do not change it can mean several things - most likely something in your settings. Please open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues with all your questions and your settings. This review system is not great for extensive communication.
The red message indicates that you have privacy.resistFingerprinting enabled which changes the behaviour of CB slightly (it most likely explains that the hashes do not change). It's not bad - just something to be aware of. Here is the English translation of that message: You have privacy.resistFingerprinting enabled. This slightly changes the behaviour of CanvasBlocker. See further information {link:here:https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues/158} and {link:here:https://github.com/ghacksuserjs/ghacks-user.js/issues/767}.

If you stay on one of the 2 lowest settings you can increase your anonymity dramatically on the web without breaking functionality, so you can surf the web pretty much like everyone else without even noticing it while still staying hard to identify if you for example combine this with VPN. This alone will help but its one of several other key plugins you should install to shield yourself against tracking on the web.

It blocks or fakes the data that websites use to track your device without your consent. I like that you can customize how strict it is for each site, so if something breaks, it’s easy to adjust. It runs quietly in the background and doesn’t slow things down. A must-have for anyone who cares about online privacy and wants more control over what sites can learn about their system.

It's just a shame that I only recently discovered canvas fingerprinting, even though it's been around for so long. Keep your privacy up folks. - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— whatever, pred 7 meseci
