— 00yunje, pred enim letomDepending on who you're subscribed to, this might not make much impact on your browsing experience. Due to titles being crowd-sourced, not every video will be equally affected. Sometimes, the suggested titles can get REALLY pedantic for otherwise perfectly serviceable titles. For example, "The History of The Simpsons Hit & Run World Records" by Summoning Salt became... "The History of The Simpsons Hit & Run (All Story Missions) World Records". Like, that's *barely* more information, and it's stuff I think most people would've assumed anyway from the original title. However, in both cases I've seen this happen, they've reverted back to the original titles soon after. (There's not even a record of there ever being a proposed title, so you're just gonna have to trust me that they were there. I know what I saw.)
Generally, they make the biggest difference with channels like Kurzgesagt or Tom Scott, creators they specifically showcase in the screenshots. Titles can be a bit of a mixed bag for others, but more for the fact that not every video - that might need a retitle - will get them. The generic thumbnail replacer makes the bigger difference to me, imo. It just gives you an honest impression of what each video's gonna look like, literally. And it's nice not having to deal with the obnoxious, gaudy thumbnails people put out sometimes.
Despite the occasionally questionable re-titles, I think the crowd-sourced titles are decent and in good faith. I appreciate the number of guidelines the devs put out to even propose a proper title. It sort of feels like Wikipedia - it might have its vandals, but collectively I think it's in good hands.

- Ocenjeno z 2 od 5— Taw, pred 5 dneviI installed it and am using it to replace a much better addon that is no longer updated. I only care about two features: changing the case of titles and replacing thumbnails with video frames.
I have a couple problems with DeArrow:
Similar to SponsorBlock, the crowdsourced nature of it makes it very unreliable. There are many cases of overly opinionated user submissions that conflict with the original material in one way or another.
There are settings to remove the crowdsource functionality and make it work the way I described above, but getting it to do that wasn't very easy and required some hoops to be jumped through.
The much bigger set of hoops is the process of getting to use the addon. You cannot use the addon for free, and the description is misleading.
To get access you need to first click a button to decline paying, then you need to apply for free access, you do not get free access immediately, so you have to start your short free trial. My trial expired before I was granted free access. I was very tempted to uninstall the plugin at every step of this way, and the experience means I will never donate.
I understand the desire to make money off this, but this attitude sucks when it actively and very successfully disrupts the usability of the tool. I am not recommending it to other people. Will drop it if I ever make my own addon to replace the old clickbait remover, or find an alternative.
Maybe this is petty and vindictive, but I'm so tired of all the bullshit and lack of groovy attitudes. - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— Josy, pred 8 dnevi
 - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— den, pred 9 dneviThis makes YouTube SO MUCH BETTER! Videos I would never click on are made way more interesting now that I can actually see what they're about. Every YouTuber feels the need to oversimplify their thumbnails and titles to make it more "clickable", but for some of us, that has the opposite effect. Thank you for making the YouTube experience better.

YouTube changed the layout causing the extension to replace thumbnails with blank spaces. I have fixed this in 2.1.7, but unfortunately Firefox is slow at reviewing updates.
This will take a few days to appear on the extension store. On Firefox, it could take up to 14 days, but you can switch to the beta version by clicking "FirefoxSignedInstaller" in the release (https://github.com/ajayyy/DeArrow/releases/tag/2.1.7). Make sure to backup your data and only have one extension enabled at once if you choose to do that.
While you wait on the old version, you can disable thumbnail replacements to see the original thumbnail instead of a blank space. - Ocenjeno z 5 od 5— SDM, pred 2 mesecemaworked well for a while, then it broke.
Edit; Dev fixed it, add-on works well, not perfect but helps cut down the insanely over embellished nature of YouTube thumbnails/titles.Odgovor razvijalca

I don't think there's any reason other than the developer wishing to justify monetizing crowd-sourced software.
EDIT: response to developer - I would wager that the vast majority of this addon's users don't care about the title change feature (indeed, I quickly disabled it). I also don't see how Clickbait Remover predating Arrow excuses Arrow being over-engineered - if anything, that makes it worse (a simple solution was demonstrated, yet it was decided to build an incredibly convoluted alternative)Odgovor razvijalca
objavljeno ob pred 4 meseciClickbait remover is a great extension that was made before dearrow. If you prefer that simple approach, it's made for you
The crowdsourcing in dearrow is more about titles than thumbnails, which is something clickbait remover is not able to deal with.
Response to edit: I'm not sure I understand your point. If you don't think crowdsourcing is beneficial to you, you should use the other extension. The whole point of this extension is for the crowdsourcing, so most people using this extension are do have those enabled.
