As with all good, useful software, uMatrix was forked to nuMatrix. Both uMartix and nuMatrix are fine and work very well keeping "the rest of the world" in line.

I can be as harsh or as lenient as I want on a per-site basis. Took a bit of tinkering to learn what can and can't be turned off without breaking the site but after I learnt that It became a very useful too!
