1Password X does offer a new user experience, so it is definitely not what you’re used to from the old companion extension. We strongly suggest you take a look here to get better acquainted with 1Password X in order to give it a proper go: https://support.1password.com/getting-started-1password-x/

It simply does not work. It keeps on saying that I do not have access to the internet when there is NOTHING wrong with my internet connection. This extension is crap.

Its user experience its below absolute zero. The popup thingy accessible from the button on the upper right corner makes a little sense. It constantly behaves against built in features of Firefox. Additionally its behaviour on the Android is like '80 experience. Very annoying is coercion to authenticate with a password even when I use computer constantly without logging out. Meh, just a garbage.

If you’re using a Mac, you can integrate 1Password X with the desktop app just like the old extension does and enjoy both worlds: https://support.1password.com/getting-started-1password-x/#to-integrate-with-1password-for-mac
Or, you can simply install the old companion extension and remove 1Password X altogether: https://1password.com/browsers/firefox/

It has steadily improved over the years without becoming bloated and is worth every penny. I've given this company less than 200 dollars (including gifts for family members) over the years. That's a good deal for being able to laugh at the criminal who keeps trying to hack my email account. (May karma give that s.o.b. a sweet, sweet kiss).
It's a ... smart program. Whether you have a family, are a single person, or have a business, there's a way to organize and manage your passwords that makes sense and is secure.
Yes, you will have to learn a little bit about passwords and online security. It will be painless and good for you. They have idiot-proof videos. Seriously. The videos explain things very well.
